Hi Saffie The waiting is very frustrating. I started with my first appointment in 1999 and cancelled one appointment, so when I tried to rearrange, they said I was on the waiting list for a new appointment, however my notes had been sent to the I AM A SHITHEAD SPAMMER. PLEASE REPORT ME TO THE ADMIN!...

Hi Carcan
Have a look at my recent post. I'm one and a half years post op, and things continue to improve! All of a sudden. The numbness really isn't a problem when you get used to it, but I'm just intruigued that the feeling has suddenly improved. Don't come anywhere near my chin with a pin anymore!

Hi Graceful, Well no promises, but I think you should be hopeful. I thought it was great that 1 and a half years post surgery, things are still improving! I also had a strange feeling for a long time, with the skin being tight, but that has very recently improved as well. I'm not sure if the feeling...

Numbness improving all the time
I had my surgery end of October 2007, and was left with a small area of numness on one side of my chin and lower lip. It didn't bother me and at my one year post-op follow up appointment the consultant said it would most likely remain like that. That was fine. However! In the past couple of months i...

Hi Saffie I had to see a psychiatrist - I was told that it was routine. He wrote a report and all was fine. I was going through all sorts of rubbish because I was a witness in a court case about that time (and the case involved a doctor!), and I asked him not to put it into the report, and he scrubb...

I've read your posts now, and see you are from the UK (I sent you a private message before reading these). I hope there's some way for you to search all my posts from the last years, you can see what happened to me. The way to check if your jaw is longer on one side than the other is to put your poi...

One year post op follow up appointment
I found this forum and the people here so helpful when waiting for, and the weeks following my surgery. I had both upper and lower jaw surgery and genioplasy to correct quite severe asymmetry. Both I and my surgeon are thrilled with the outcome. My functionality is completely normal and hugely impro...

DotCat I really don't want you to fret. I've read so many of your posts and you are very obviously highly intelligent and articulate and employable. I think that what we all do, when we are going through all of this, is to blame failure on our orthodontic/oral max/medical situation. But setbacks hap...

So sorry to hear how you're feeling. I promise it will get better in time. You are so close, ohmyjaw is right. Perhaps you can find someone to lean on and talk to until it's over. Everyone does things differently, but I gave up on dating all together, and got a great deal of strength from within mys...

Dave The jaw wrap was fantastic, all the staff in my hospital (NHS, UK) were very impressed. The alternative they were going to give me was latex gloves filled with water and frozen (!). My dad got them for me because I had trouble with the website, luckily he lives in the US. Order them in plenty t...

Chest infection much worse than braces, surgery, the works
Just have to share this - I went back to work, after my surgery, on 10th Dec, got vicious chesty cold on 13th Dec, got full blown chest infection and temperature on Christmas day and went on antibiotics on 27th (soonest I could get to the doc). Bad fever, been coughing like mad, sound like I smoke 4...
