Thanks for all your kind words. Well, visit 15 was on Saturday. A little clean up, got the powerchain off, new ligs, then a bombshell... "Ok, Mark, we can take these off next time.." WooHoo! 6 weeks time, they are coming off. Then models and fitting up for my retainer, which takes about a ...

Visit 14

Thanks for the kind messages and thoughts. 63 weeks and counting! Visit 14 was a quick affair, after the long wait. Quick clean-up and got two powerchains fitted. They were a bit sore for one day, soup for dinner, then fine the next day. I was lisping a little bit the next day as I had to re-adjust ...

Thanks for all the Braceversary congratulations, they made me smile. No 14th adjustment to report yet since July. I have not been to the Ortho's office for two months. Have had an awful time lately, lost my Dad a few weeks ago after an extraordinary courageous battle with Leukaemia. He was always fa...

Hello and welcome! Well, that is a strange motivation. Board brainwashing? Seriously, your motivation is exactly that - yours. You will be surprised how few people spot the treatment going on in your mouth. Those people who do spot it, only a fractin of those will say anything but I predict a larger...

Hello! Your teeth are not "horrible". If you want some ortho treatment than I believe that the aesthetics and function could be improved. Teeth definitely affect confidence. I can tell you that personally. It's right there in front of you - the first thing people notice when you talk up cl...

TV journalism

Those 60 minutes, 20/20 special, etc etc. tabloid TV "news" shows are a joke. How TV producers can pass their hysterical nonsense puncuated by commercials every 6 minutes off as "journalism"? You rarely see evidence presented on those sensationalist shows. You can have bone loss ...

Hang on in there. I can relate to the severely uncomfortable sensations and the feeling of loose teeth, clicking etc. I promise you, the worst bit is the first 10 weeks. After that, it's plain sailing. Most important, talk to your ortho, but don't panic, stress is bad for you!

One year!

Oops its been 2 and a half months since my last post. Just been so crazy busy. In 4 days time it is my braces anniversary - one whole year since I got braced up. I really can't believe it has been a year. It has whizzed by. On my 11th visit, we started the "finishing" phase. This will take...

Adjustment 10

Adjustment number 10 was quite eventful. Lots of cooing and ooh type sounds as the whole office had a peep at my progress. We took some more photos for my file, had a clean-up and reattached everything. There was some debate about whether to "move up to the next level" but in the end decid...

9th adjustment

Missed a whole adjustment update as I've been so crazy busy, so skipping to visit number 9... and number 10 is in 3 days time, I am getting behind on my saga :-) I'm really thrilled that the lonely incisor has now joined the others on the top wire and it has moved a huge distance in the 4 weeks sinc...

Hi, well, I had a wait of 6 months between my first consultation and starting treatment. My ortho understands I can't pay a huge amount of money and we have an agreement between us, no loan companies or anything like that - I saved up and paid him a chunk up front to cover the cost of all the equipm...
