Maybe it's just me, but all I ever think when I see gaps like that is "goodness that looks painful!" ETA: Even though I realise it most likely isn't! Painful that is. No pain at all (well, during the extraction itself -- that's a different story), but a little drafty sometimes  ...

I had the 4 extraction gaps too and was in the same boat as you were ... very self conscious! Even worse, people actually made comments about it all the time to me! So I just did closed-mouth smiles and covered my mouth when I laughed. And to make myself feel better, I told myself, no pain... no gai...

Oh you lucky duck! I was braced in Oct '05 too and am in the last stage, but unfortunately still have a small gap and midline to correct... wish I was being debanded this month like you!

It's been a LONG two years, hasn't it? But well worth it from your photos!

My midline was really off due to extractions and one gap being closed on one side, but not the other... it got to the point where I just didn't even know how to smile anymore bc it felt so awkward! But once I started wearing elastics + the remaining gap getting closed, my midline is finally moving i...

The shape itself didn't change, but I definitely do look different because my smile is no longer crooked/misaligned. So facial expression-wise, yes.

I have ceramic uppers and metal bottoms. I chose this because there was a female coworker in the office who had full metal, and maybe she just had a really large smile that exaggeratted the metal... but it just looked rather frightening. People often talked behind her back about how scary her smile ...

Extaction gap finally closing! (Pics)

Awhile back ago, I posted a thread asking if my ortho had put on closing loops to close my extraction gap. Well to update: Before (right after the mysterious closing loops were put on - May 8th, 2007): http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa142/lelerz00/closing2.jpg Today: http://i202.photobucket.com/...

I had a pretty noticeable overbite!

4 bicuspids extractions, springs to close the gaps/move the teeth back, and now elastics (which is where I am feeling my bite really changing).

I can't imagine having them myself and re-doing them every meal (I eat many mini-meals throughout the day). But I guess you gotta do what you gotta do!

I have my appts every 6-8 weeks, but like already stated... it's mostly because they just want to see my progress. With all my appts in the past 1.5 year, only 60% of the time has the Ortho done any actual work!

All the other times was a pat on the shoulder and a, "Looks good!"

Wow I swear that is just freakin amazing!!! I can't wait to see what my teeth look like in a couple months!!! So of course now I'm wondering (in your case) are they moving your teeth from the right side over to the left? and if so will they file down the tooth in front of the gap to make it look li...

Ok I was wondering if you had any pics from before the gap was there??? I just had the 1st bicuspid on the right taken out and I am wondering how all this is going to work in the end. Esp. since he didn't remove one on the left side Thanks Diane http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa142/lelerz00/bra...
