Wow its been a long while since Ive logged on here. Well I had BSSO (lower jaw) and had a small gap that was created a couple weeks prior to surgery thanks to a random bend in my archwire. Needless to saw it did not affect anything. My wire was fixed a week before surgery and everything was correcte...

expect to feel some numbness for quite a while. I was told that after a year you will have a good idea how much feeling you will get back. for me I am 11 month post and I can feel everything. Just have a lot of tingling and a dullness sense to touch now. The numbness is by far the most annoying thin...

I hope I do not scare anyone but to my understanding the level of numbness depends on how much was done and the type of procedure. In my case I had BSSO. My bottom lip/chin were completely numb after surgery. This included the inside of my bottom lip and even the gums of my bottom jaw as well as my ...

I would say it depends on your surgery and what your oral surgeon says. My OS did not give me specifications to sleeping but said do what is comfortable. I am a side sleeper but did not sleep comfortably in my bed probably about 3 weeks post. All the swelling was in my lower jaw and neck and this ma...

I had BSSO performed and was told I would be rubber banded completely shut for 2 weeks and then get less restrictive bands for another 2-4 more weeks. What ended up happening was I was banded very tightly for a total of 5 weeks due to some complications of my midline. My jaw was very stubborn and di...

Give it some more time. you will soon notice that you will gain more ROM pretty soon. For me I was about 2 finger width for a long time and eventually I was back to normal.

I met with my ortho first in february. had braces put on in may. My ortho asked me to meet with the OS shortly after that. I met with the OS with braces on in July. My ortho wanted everyone on the same page at the same time.

I don't think retainers are designed to change or move teeth positions. Its job is to keep or retain the bite you had when your braces came off. I have the same type of retainers

Rubber bands very from person to person. I had mid line issues so I was banded moderately for 2 weeks. At my follow up my midline was still a bit off so I was heavily banded for 3 more weeks. All bands were off for a week and then I was banded moderately for 4 weeks. My midline was extremely stubbor...

insurances can be tricky and sneaky. I was originally told by my OS that my insurance wouldn't cover my BSSO and that he hasn't seen one approved in over a year. I was with my work's (university's health insurance) I called my insurance and they said if a in network doctor recommends it then it will...
