i always brush with open mouth and on top of the washbowl;

I had (well, i still have but it has been worse) tmj problem and jaw muscles problems and it used to give me shoulder and neck muscle problems. There are greats chances that bite-problems and/or clenching can cause theses problems.

nickel alergies happends quite "often"
and braces containt a lot of nickel

you could make a try with some kind of nickel jewel, a ring for example
may be this is not allergie thought

Hello Maisey, i also have some kind of TMJ (the diagnostic word hasnt been mentionned but it goes on the TMJ way), actually i am wearing a splint to get a good jaw position, it helps a lot, really a lot and the doctor whom i work with is very good at her job and at the way she deal with her patients...
