I also had an overbit at the start of my treatment. I am just over a year into my treatment and my overbite is gone and there was no headgear and no elastics involved. I obviously did not have a bad case, but it is definitely possible to treat an overbite without headgear.

I have used the comfort covers for braces. I know they suggest they should not be worn at night, but I never had a problem. They clip over your brackets and stay in place until you pull them off. I also found if I rinsed them well I could wear them for several nights before starting a new pair. Thes...

I had a similar situation. The day of an adjustment I went home and flossed after work and most of my wire just popped out  I took a closer look and realized there were no ties except for on two of the brackets on the back right side... so off to the ortho the next day  If anything I fe...

I have had 10 come off. And not due to eating the forbidden foods (however, I think my ortho was starting to think I was lying to him  ). All the brackets have been on the bottom except for one on the top that popped off during an adjustment. Only once has the same bracket been involved and my...

I had no idea that offices were this high-tech. The ortho I go to does not even have me sign in. However, I always show up early for my appointments and they always manage to get me in almost immediately so I am not complaining. When I walk in they greet me by name and tell me which chair to sit on....

Before starting treatment I talked to my ortho about the possibility of moving before the end of treatment. They told me that my costs were going to be $1000 for the banding and then $170 for each month in treatment with them or until I have paid the full quoted price... which ever comes first. Quot...

I have used the whitening strips with great results in the pass and I have seen others that have posted pictures after using the strips with equally great results. I would suggest that since you will most likely already have a great smile after you are finished with braces that you give the whitenin...

I used the 'comfort covers'. I noticed that the lip protectors look very similar, but I have not seen this product. I also used the regular comfort covers, but noticed you can get them for ceramic braces now. I have ceramic braces but did not find the regular covers to be much problem with them. How...

I used the comfort covers at night when I had just a bare wire skipping over a tooth (needed to make space for the tooth to be moved into alignment). It took about a year to get enough room and all the wax in the world would not stay in place. The wire eventually just sliced through it and then on t...

You can actually buy powerchains or 'ligating chain' from J.A.W. products in the U.S. along with most other orthodontic products... heck you could set up your own dental office from this site... However... they do have a disclaimer: "Any dental related items should be used by a professional. Consume...

I had a similar problem at night. I would wake up and my gums would feel and look like hamburger. I use to wax the entire set of brackets in my mouth until I found the wonderful comfort covers for braces. They are clear plastic and easily fit over brackets... I have ceramic but have just used the re...

I understand your frustration. I have had a missing lig(s) on several occasions. I am starting to think that the girls in the office should pay a little more attention to the job and a little less to the social aspect. I once left the office with only three ligs on the upper wire (and I realize I sh...

I have a few teeth right now that are very sensitive. I use Sensodyne daily, but still have a couple of molars that are constantly bothering me. If I put any pressure on the teeth (even brushing) it drives me crazy. I have also noticed that certain areas above the teeth can cause the same feeling wh...

Before I moved to the USA I was looking at braces in Canada. I was quoted about $5000 CAD for the whole treatment, which is identical to what I am paying in the States. It may vary greatly on which part of Canada you live in, but since this was the price from SK it most likely on the lower end of co...

I am not exactly sure how dental insurance works, but I would check back with the oral surgeon and find out what his policy is. I can't imagine that they would use 'preexisting condition' clauses for most dental work as they are not usually chronic conditions and only require a one-time treatment. T...
