I just got back from my first adjustment. It was only slightly painful, lol! They didn't do too much - gave me a heavier spring, and retied and tightened the metal wire ties that are closing my extraction gaps (still don't know what these ties are called...I thought my ortho said something like &quo...

So it's been almost 7 weeks since I got my braces. It's been going well - I don't really even think about them anymore - having braces is just a part of my normal life! I hadn't taken pictures of my progress since about the 3 week mark. I bought a new digital camera last week because of my upcoming ...

I was asleep for my wisdom teeth surgery - all 4 of mine were impacted as well - one so much so that it had eaten away at 55% of my jaw bone width where it was, and the oral surgeon had warned me that when he went to break the tooth to extact it, there was a chance he'd break my jawbone as well. Tha...

You will probably find that as the days go by with your spacers in, the pain will rise, peak, then subside. Mine were the most painful on days 2-4 (I had them in for 8 days). As the spacers move your teeth, the pain will be less because things arent so tight in there. Whatever you do, don't pull the...

Ohhh boy, ABraces2007 , you would HATE being my roommate, lol! My fiance and I are pretty messy! I just keep all my stuff all over the bathroom counter. It's a small, single sink counter with no drawers (we live in an apartment so everything is basic), so I basically have overtaken the entire thing,...

Hi Ginger Prince ! I'm glad to hear you're from Ireland! My brother and his fiance live there - in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. I am going over during the first week in August to visit them because they just had their first baby. If you could answer a question for me? Are adults in braces common in Ire...

Jawbone Exposed at Extraction Site...
So I was flossing the other day when I noticed a bit of white matieral on the edge of one of my extraction gaps. Figuring it was some leftover dinner, I grabbed a toothpick and tried to flick it out, only to discover it was hard (I thought it was bread). After further investigation, I figured out th...

I'm not sure if its the best way to do things, but I usually just rinse my mouth out with water after I have a snack or a drink. I only brush my teeth twice a day and when theres a ton of stuff stuck in my braces. Other than that, I just swish and spit with the bottle of water I always have with me.

I see whats happening to you as a form of jealousy, or something similar - maybe jealousy isnt the right word, but I'm not sure what is. Sort of like how people get a little nasty to pregnant women if they talk about their pregnancy a lot. Or people that are mean to women who are engaged and talk ab...
