I just got back from my first adjustment. It was only slightly painful, lol! They didn't do too much - gave me a heavier spring, and retied and tightened the metal wire ties that are closing my extraction gaps (still don't know what these ties are called...I thought my ortho said something like &quo...

So it's been almost 7 weeks since I got my braces. It's been going well - I don't really even think about them anymore - having braces is just a part of my normal life! I hadn't taken pictures of my progress since about the 3 week mark. I bought a new digital camera last week because of my upcoming ...

Wow thats so weird - Ive never heard of braces causing sickness either. I hope you let us know what happens! WebMD is awesome unless you're somewhat of a hypochondriac (like me!). Sometimes I'll go on there to see whats wrong with me and I'll be like, "hmm..I have a headache, nausea, and I yarf...

lol cwatt1 - I actually use an elaborate set up consisting of pillows, my own knees/legs, a compact mirror, and sometimes my laptop, lol!

I just stack everything up on top of myself so my mirror is at eye-level but I can still see the tv :-9

I was asleep for my wisdom teeth surgery - all 4 of mine were impacted as well - one so much so that it had eaten away at 55% of my jaw bone width where it was, and the oral surgeon had warned me that when he went to break the tooth to extact it, there was a chance he'd break my jawbone as well. Tha...

You will probably find that as the days go by with your spacers in, the pain will rise, peak, then subside. Mine were the most painful on days 2-4 (I had them in for 8 days). As the spacers move your teeth, the pain will be less because things arent so tight in there. Whatever you do, don't pull the...

Ohhh boy, ABraces2007 , you would HATE being my roommate, lol! My fiance and I are pretty messy! I just keep all my stuff all over the bathroom counter. It's a small, single sink counter with no drawers (we live in an apartment so everything is basic), so I basically have overtaken the entire thing,...

Hi Ginger Prince ! I'm glad to hear you're from Ireland! My brother and his fiance live there - in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. I am going over during the first week in August to visit them because they just had their first baby. If you could answer a question for me? Are adults in braces common in Ire...

Jawbone Exposed at Extraction Site...

So I was flossing the other day when I noticed a bit of white matieral on the edge of one of my extraction gaps. Figuring it was some leftover dinner, I grabbed a toothpick and tried to flick it out, only to discover it was hard (I thought it was bread). After further investigation, I figured out th...

I'm not sure if its the best way to do things, but I usually just rinse my mouth out with water after I have a snack or a drink. I only brush my teeth twice a day and when theres a ton of stuff stuck in my braces. Other than that, I just swish and spit with the bottle of water I always have with me.

Many people on here say that having spacers was by far the worst part - some have even described them as "unbearable" . But a lot of us didn't have much problem with the spacers, including myself. Have you ever gotten a chunk of steak or chicken stuck between your teeth? It feels alm...

well I guess it depends on what your definition of "pain" is....I never had any huge pain, but I did, and still do, have soreness and discomfort. It's not like you'll wake up the morning after braces and be like, "AHHHH OH MY GOSH!! MY MOUTHH!! HELP!! HELP!!! THE PAAAIINN I CANT TAKE ...

Well its never a bad idea to call and check with your ortho, cause they are the experts. However, I got a "How to Take Care of Your Teeth" laminated card to hang in my bathroom when I got my braces on. Int he "problems with your braces" section, it does say that if your archwire ...

I see whats happening to you as a form of jealousy, or something similar - maybe jealousy isnt the right word, but I'm not sure what is. Sort of like how people get a little nasty to pregnant women if they talk about their pregnancy a lot. Or people that are mean to women who are engaged and talk ab...
