There is always a possibility that your treatment will not work. In fact, for most of us, it rarely works perfectly. Usually, the ortho makes you sign a waiver that your outcome may not be what was originally discussed, and treatment may need to be stopped if certain problems occur. So don't blame y...

Just so others interested in Invisalign don't freak out, shaving and shaping of teeth is acutally quite common even with traditional braces. I had my front upper teeth shaved so they would fit together better. And all of my front teeth, top and bottom, were shaped to be flat. So this is not somethin...

It's been awhile since I posted so I figured I should do a 3 month followup on the retainers. They were really tough to get used to, but I'm pretty good with them now. I still have certain words that are a little tough to pronounce, but I expect that with all this plastic on the roof of my mouth. I ...

Hey Invisagirl, It's been awhile since I posted too. I'm glad to see the braces are going so well for you. I know what you mean about the self-conciousness of the braces and the job. I was quite self-concious with mine for awhile, but it goes away. Once you see a few adults with braces during everyd...

Hey Lex, I would highly recommend that you check out Dr Lavine/Decker in Laurel, MD. It's a bit of a drive for you, but Dr. Lavine is excellent and is the one the offered me full braces at no charge after my Invisalign treatment. If nothing else, go get a consult with them because they are fairly pr...

It's been a few months since your last post so I'm sure theres been lots of movement. Keep up the good mood with the braces! It'll go by fas...

I had to wait a week after debanding. I had a twisted tooth that rotated a bit during the week off, but once I wore the retainer for a week it went right back into place. But you have to wear them the first week. They are really uncomfortable for a week, and you won't want to have them in, but you h...

How long have you had the retainer? Or how long have your braces been off? You should be fine though. Once they get a new retainer made and pop it in, the teeth will for the most part go back to where they belong. I'm really suprised that your ortho didn't have you come in immediately. Did you call ...

Some orthos like to give all adult patients (and some child patients too) a permanent retainer. Its common to get the permanent retainer on the bottom only. They are supposed to be tough to clean around though. I don't know how talking is with these in, but I imagine their quick to get used to. The ...

Its very common for your front teeth to look big right after getting your braces off. I thought mine looked kind of big too. But you're so used to having something breaking up the big flat surface of your teeth (the bracket) that visually, your teeth look so enormous compared to having the braces on...

A few months before I got my braces off they reshaped my teeth. It doesn't discolor but does make your teeth sensitive to cold for awhile. Before asking your ortho, I would take a good look in the mirror and see what the contour of your teeth are. You two front teeth should be the lowest, the two te...

I found the Hawleys to be extremely uncomfortable... for about a week. Now, I hardly notice I have them in. I had Invisalign which some have said is like the Essix retainers, and it was the same situation. No matter what, it takes some time to get used to them. I actually prefer the Hawley as it all...
