Hi there, I am going to have a chin reduction/genioplasty reduction in a few weeks (had a lefort I a year ago and this is a follow on op as the surgeon preferred to do one stage at a time) I was told that they don't shave bone off the bottom of the chin, how I understand it, is that they cut a wedge...

Hi there, I haven't been on this board for ages now as I had my op in July 2008 to correct an underbite - but I still drop by from time to time. My surgery and treatment was all done in London on the NHS - I did pay for the supply of white brackets (about £270) but I don't think all orthodontists a...

What a nightmare for you, you poor thing. I can only imagine how terrible you must be feeling right now, but it will all be over in a few days. All I can say to offer words of advice, is that these maxillofacial surgeons are the ones that are able to fix peoples faces who have been in accidents invo...

Oh dear, you poor thing, I really do feel for you. I just wanted to say that while I was in London having my upper jaw surgery, the girl in the bed beside me had to have a repair done to her condular joint (the hinge part of the jaw) She had been operated on externally but her incision was so neat. ...

Hi Ema27 I can totally sympathise with the acne and breakouts - even now at 4 months post op I am suffering and it is very frustrating!! I really cannot see why this happens, there must be a scientific explanation as it happens to so many of us post op? If it persists I may go to my GP to get some a...

Hi abz, I am in the UK too and had an upper jaw advancement (9mm) in July. There are subtle changes and improvements but on the whole there is not a bit enough difference for people not to recognise me. The swelling stage is the worst and you will see a bit difference initially, but it all settles d...

Hi there, I know that for people with gummy smiles (ie - too much teeth and gum showing) that they can reduce the height of the upper jaw - I would have thought that for you they could extend the length of the upper jaw by using bone grafts maybe?? - Not sure about this as I have not heard of it bei...

Hi Cersepn, I don't know if you will get the best answers on this forum because most of us have either had, or are waiting for surgery. Of those who have had their surgery (me included) we are mostly delighted with the results and although it is a long haul, most of us do not regret it for a moment....

Hi there, I had a le fort I (upper) on 8th July. My maxilla was moved forward by 9mm (not up though) I think that my upper lip is very slightly fuller than before - I know this goes against the belief, but it seems it to me. I have also had a widening of the base of my nose, before my nostrils were ...
