EazyE, I am glad to hear that you have changed your mind. I know how hard it is to be a patient patient!!! I was unable to get braces when I was younger because my family could not afford them. Now that I am older, I have put myself into braces willingly - my teeth were extremely crowded, overlappin...

loulou, rice is so much cheaper than Botox! Tell your friends!

I'm so glad I'm not the only person who had that happen, then I'd be even MORE embarrassed!

Congrats!! It's such a relief to have them out!! :) I was really in a "rush" to get mine on - I was afraid if it took too long, I'd get scared and chicken out. I thought I could get a consult, go in the next day and get molds, then come in the day after and have braces on. HAH. I got space...

After an adjustment, the hooks on my bands (for elastics) always catch when I open my mouth a certain distance so I always have to either use my tongue or a finger to gently remove the skin from the hook. SO annoying!!!!!!! When I first got them, I had holes on the inside of my cheeks from the hooks...

My ortho explained that molar bands function like anchors - they keep the banded teeth in place and the other teeth are the ones that move. I believe he plans to remove my bands once I am finished with elastics and switch to brackets on the molars to get them aligned - but he's got to fix the bite f...

YES! I was so afraid I was going to push a bracket off when I closed my mouth that for two weeks, I held my mouth slightly open ALL the time. My bite is not extremely deep but it was so funny because I was so paranoid about it. I asked my dentist (I saw him the next day) and apparently, some extra a...

If you can discreetly rinse with water, it will help too - my tea habit was staining and since I follow every cup with a glass of water for a "clean rinse" it has also seemed to help! Besides, the water keeps you hydrated so you don't get the horrible dry lips!

I'm new here too! So welcome! :) I was REALLY surprised at how quickly they started moving. It seems like it comes in spurts - they will move a whole lot and then just sit. Get an adjustment and it doesn't seem like they do anything, they look the same - and then you notice a tiny gap where there ha...

I am so jealous! You're going on a cruise!! I'm trying to plan one and I just can't decide where to go! The fantastic thing about cruises is that you have the choice of so many foods usually, especially if they have one the 24 hour (or 18 hour) buffets where you can get anything you like at any time...

I LOVE hot tea. Love it love it. I had clear ligs put on initially. After one week of drinking my favorite tea - roobios - they turned this horrible orange color. I had to swear off the tea. When I went in for my adjustment, my ortho just laughed and said 'try these' and put on some silver ligs. The...

I use Peroxyl mouthwash instead of Listerine, the alcohol in Listerine makes my mouth SO dry, it's almost painful. I really don't like the taste of the Bactine products, the peroxyl is very mild and really helps with the sores I get sometimes - the taste of saltwater makes me gag terribly so Peroxyl...
