I had my braces removed last Monday and permanent retainers fitted there and then, top and bottom. Then I had Essix retainers on Wednesday and I've been told to wear them 24/7 for two weeks then just at night. The top ones especially are difficult to wear and it's so annoying having to remove them t...

Hi. I had my braces off on Mon 24 and had a permanent retainer fitted at the same time. Then on Wed I went back for my clear retainers that I have to wear full time (except for eating) and I am struggling with them. The bottom set are fine but the top set feel really weird. And I am on holiday this ...

Braces off on Monday...more scared than excited...!
Finally, after over 38 months of being braced...they're coming off on Monday morning. And I'm petrified. I've sneaked over to the Naked Tooth board and it appears it hurts...really hurts when you have ceramics off. I've had 3 kids so I think I can do a bit of pain but for some reason I'm really ner...

Any gaps left?
Hi I've been braced for nearly three years and I have a small gap left from having two molars extracted on my upper left side. My Ortho said I may have a few gaps left after treatment...and at this stage everyting else is in place so he's happy for me to call it quits at any time but I'm not sure w...

Hiya I'm 40 and was braced at 37  I'm nearing the end now...about time...it's been nearly three years! I have had 5 teeth removed and the last gap is finally almost closed (teeth were straightened ages ago...!) I just wanted to say that this is probably one of the best things I have ever done...

Hi I got my braces on 9/3/07 (feels like a hundred years ago) and was given elastics November 2008 and I've had them ever since. I had to wear them all the time initially but then just at night from June 2009. The cruellest thing about them for me is that I was given a standard letter from my ortho...

I've done over 2 and a half years and I was told 2-3 years so I suppose I'm pretty much on track. Have deifinately had enough now though. I had to have an extra tooth out on one side because it was a gold crown that fell out when it was banded  so there are two gaps to close on my upper left s...

Elastics timescale...?
Hello All I reached the 23 months mark yesterday and I've been in elastics since 27 November last year. My ortho gave me a letter to take home explaining about elastics that began 'Congratulations! You're nearing the end of your treatment!' Now is this true or is it just some cruel orthodontic tric...

Splashing out on a brand new brush...which one?
Hello Everyone. Having been in my braces for almost a year now I've come to the decision that I really need to invest in a decent electric toothbrush. I've been managing with a cheapy Oral B Sonic Vitality but I really could do with something a bit more effective. I'm looking at a either an Oral B ...

To answer your question swellen I am on my third Waterpick and it's just broken down!!! When it's working it's wonderful...but after a few weeks it stops halfway through and then won't re-charge. The thing is I can't manage without mine now so I shall be taking it back to Boots for a replacement as ...

Thanks for that Macca! I'm only having one implant in my gum...my ortho is going to do it at my next adjustment in November. He's not mentioned headgear to me yet but if that's the alternative then, personally, i think I'll definitely go for the implant. I've had five teeth out earlier this year so ...

Anyone got a screw in their jaw...? What's it like?
So...just got home from my third adjustment with new wires and longer powerchains and an information sheet about 'Mini Temporary Anchorage Devices' My Ortho has suggested if I am willing that I have one fitted at my next appointment...bit scary. Anyone else got one? Do they hurt? What should...
