Your bite is going to be different from time to time throughout your treatment.

Two Retainers, Two Sizes???

I have been braces free for approximately 2.5 weeks now. I was paranoid about losing or leaving my retainers my Essix-style retainers at home, so I got my ortho to make me two sets, which he did free of charge (I really do love him!). Up until last night, I have been wearing the set I’d tried on ...

Thanks for the heads up, as I am going to get my fixed retainers bonded in in approx. 6 weeks. I was under the impression that I can forget all about them once I have them in, at least for a two years!

This journey doesn't ever end, does it?

This might be a little premature as this is Day 3 for me, but I sure am planning to wear mine 24/7!!! Heck, I just invested 14.5 months and $1,000 so I'd better be good about it! So far, so good, AND this is definitely going to help me lose weight, unlike the braces. I am just too lazy to take them ...

I guess I'm in the minority when it comes to lig colors. I chose clear braces to be as inconspicuous as possible so I'm planning to have clear ligs the entire time. They haven't given me staining problems YET, but I've only had my braces for a week. That's what I was planning too. then things got b...

It is definitely possible to be freed early, as I was quoted 18 months and was released after 14.5 months for good behavior, and compliant teeth. but also remember that there are other things that need to happen before you are ready to be freed. Just because your teeth are straight doesn't imply tha...

If this is bothering you, you should ask your ortho. I really think that the reason ortho treatments are expensive because of all the “customer serviceâ€

Don’t be nervous!!! I was uber scared before my extraction too. It was not bad at all; the scariest part is the anticipation. I was so nervous that I had him write me a prescription for Tylenol 3, just in case the extraction site hurt me. 14 months later, the bottle of Tylenol 3 is still sitting i...

dbink-a lot of people had the same reaction when I told them I was getting braces ("OMG, WHY?? You're teeth are nice the way they are," “You are in sales, why in the world would you do that??â€

I love my ortho!! I just realized what a great deal I got. For my $4,000 I got: -consultation (free) -14.5 months of ortho treatment (includes many lost turning screws and such, as I am not the most obedient of patients!) -2 sets of Essix-type retainers (I had him make me an extra set so I can leave...

14.5 months in ceramic braces for $4,000 USD.
My dental insurance covered $3,000 USD, so I paid $1,000 out-of-pocket.

I am uber lucky in my dental insurance--one of the reasons why I got braces: get it all taken care of while I have great coverage!

Thanks, Betty! I was thinking that I was weird or something. I'll have to wear these things 24/7 (except when I eat and brush, of course) for the next 6 weeks. I've made it through 14.5 months, so it shouldn't be bad, especially if I keep myself busy. After that, I will have the fixed retainers in,...

Doh! So sorry, I was being vague.

I have essix retainers top and bottom, and it is the thickness that is preventing me from biting down fully.

When i take out my retainers to eat and brush, my bite is great!

My ortho gave me the option of brackets first then Invisalign to finish. It was going to be an extra $1,000 and it was going to delay my treatment, and the ceramic brackets no longer bothered me, so I didn't go that route, but it was available to me...
