thanks for your response pixel witch. How is your ortho pushing your teeth up? is it bracket placement or bends in the wire..or something else--like an implant screw? thanks again liv I have a very gummy smile. My ortho is pushing them up into my gums (and they already look LOADS better) and when we...

Wow, thanks for all you wrote! I think my ortho was trying to say that the teeth would just move up under the gums and the gumline wouldn't change. I transfered to his office part way through treatment; I've only been to him twice now, and he's just been trying to fix my bite (since my previous orth...

Gum show???? changing the gumline?
hi everyone, I haven't posted here in a long time, but I'm hoping some of you might be able to help me figure something out. Can teeth be intruded (moved up) and will the gumline move with them, or is jaw surgery the only way to move up the gumline? or will the teeth just move up under the gums and ...

hi. I think your smile looks very nice. The only thing I might change would be the spaces between your teeth (on the bottom of your front teeth). I think orthodontists can shave between the teeth. Maybe your ortho could shave where your teeth are meeting together so it is even with the open bottom s...

Can a orthodontist legally withhold your records until the $182 is paid? I hear about dentists doing this all the time, but I'm not sure if they're really allowed to hold your records ransom for payment. I'd look into HIPAA; maybe your state dental board would know if HIPAA protects a patient from a...

Waterpik vs Hydro floss
Last time I was at the dentist, they recommended that I buy a Hydro floss oral irrigator. (They gave me a discount slip so I'll save $30 if I buy one.) The Hydro Floss is $129. here's the link http://oralcaretech.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=995698&Category_Code=1 Does a...

hi. I'm sorry that you're having such a crummy experience. I had some similar experiences with my ortho (also some other big problems with him.) My ortho always had explanations for everything too. I even caught him saying the exact opposite thing when I phrased the same question differently and ask...

I think the skill and treatment plan of the orthodontist can dramatically affect the changes that occur in profiles. One ortho I consulted said that some of the overbite cases he's treated have become unhappy with their noses because they look bigger after treatment (because the teeth on top are mov...

The braces have not affected my ability to sing. Make sure you have a good orthodontist though. The ortho I went to screwed up my bite and so I haven't been able to close my mouth. An ENT said this has caused swelling in my jaw and a constant feeling of pressure in my ears. I can't hear myself singi...

My ortho messed up my bite. I've developed constant pressure in my left ear. Early on, I experienced dizziness, but after about a week that problem went away. The feeling of pressure never went away (my bite still needs to be fixed. I hope it will feel better once I can close my mouth correctly.) I ...

If you really plan to leave your ortho, I'd contact them as soon as possible. Your ortho's office will keep charging you for every month you continue with them. A new ortho might be making different changes during that time, so the longer you wait the more it could cost you. You will lose some money...
