Need advice and support about undergoing surgery. Help
Hi everyone, Someone finally told me the truth about the condition of my jaws. I have been in braces for 5 1/2 years, and I feel that I look no better than when I started. I have a canted smile, and my orthodontist gave me the impression that it could be rectified with orthodonture. Not true. My can...

Re: Orthodontic Relapse after TADs?
I have the same problem with the canted upper jaw. I have had braces on for 5 1/2 years and the problem has not been fixed. The procedure that you speak of was never tried with me, so it is disheartening to find out that there are treatment options out there that were never mentioned. I am curious a...

Re: FAILED BRACES
Thank you for your responses. That is some great advice. I am hoping to get an evaluation from a dental school that happens to be in my town and I am going for a consult with a prosthodontist today. This has been a very frustrating experience, but I have hope that a miracle will happen and I will ge...

FAILED BRACES
After 5 years of braces, I was informed about a month ago, that I have a great deal of root reabsorption, and I will probably lose some of my upper front teeth. Meanwhile, I have to keep the braces on to hold the teeth in place and no other professional can re-evaluate me with the braces in place. I...

Hi Kitty, He told me that the bone is much too thin to place an anchor in the upper jaw to lift the teeth upwards. He thinks that the stress would be too much. I asked him about a bone graft to strengthen the area, but he could not answer the question. I am going to keep searching the Internet and o...

Unhappy with my lopsided smile after 3 yrs and 3 months
I am 55 years old and have been wearing braces for 3 years and 3 months. The density of the bones in my jaws is very thin due to steroid use for a chronic illness and genetics. My bite is lopsided. The upper teeth on the right are higher up than the teeth on the left and the difference is very notic...

HAVE I BEEN DUPED-WHAT INFO SHOULD MY ORTHO HAVE GIVEN ME?
I have had my braces on for 2 years. I have not had a sit down consultation with my ortho since I had my braces on, nor have I received a copy of my treatment plan. The only thing I know is how much it costs. From reading some of the other posts on this board, I find that a lot of you know exactly h...

BACK TEETH THAT NEED TO BE PUSHED BACK UP TO NORMAL POSITION
I have been in braces for 23 months and I am 54 years old. For many years, I had a partial denture on the bottom to replace some missing molars. I could not wear the partial for about 2 years before I was braced because my teeth had shifted, and it caused me quite a lot of irritation and pain. Now, ...

Implants
I had a lower jaw implant in March 2006. Nothing to it. I think I took an Advil that night, but overall it was not painful to me. The most painful part was the liquid diet that I had to be on for 1 week afterward. You just have to be extra vigilent with the prescription mouthwash to prevent infectio...

Are Orthos good at my age
Hi Cardlady, I am 53 years old, and I got my braces on at 52. I am sorry I did not do it sooner, but it is what is is. For as long as I can remember, I have been ashamed of my teeth and smile, and I am sure that I will feel better about those issues after everything is done. You will too. Good luck

DISAPPOINTED THAT TREATMENT IS GOING TO BE LONGER T
I am 53 years old and I have been in braces since March 2006 when I got them on the top. I got my bottoms on several months ago. I must admit, that my face fell when I asked my orthodontist if I was going to be finished in 24 months as planned, and he said no. Even though my treatment has to go slow...

Who is supposed to supply you with Hawley Bite Plate
Hi Everyone, I am 52 years old and have been braced since March of 2006. During the course of my dental treatment, I needed an implant and I will need temporary and permanent partials also. My prosthodontist wants to make my Hawley bite plate and has included it in his treatment plan. Shouldn't it b...
