i have found that when my elastics/rubber bands are in, i cannot tuck my lips together to spread the lip balm (or in some cases lipstick). so my advice, if you have elastics, put the lip balm on before you put in the elastics.

i had a bite plate for a few months that was not removable. i had to eat with it, sleep with it, brush with it... it took some time getting used to it but after awhile it wasn't so bad. just another part of the braces journey, i guess.
