Hi all I am nearing the end (I hope!) of treatment for crowding with the removal of a lower central incisor. No issues so far and it all looks OK. As others have pointed out, no-one else is likely to see the missing tooth and as long as the bite is stable, and there is not too much resulting overjet...

Hi Jean I know exactly how you feel. I have been driving my husband up the wall about my powerchain, the staining, the lack of gap closure after 4 months of active closure efforts! It's really frustrating. But, just hang in there, and try to put your faith in your ortho. It will close. As for the st...

Hi Nickym I felt exactly the same way for the first week. I have ceramic brackets upper and damon lower, and the first thing I ate was pumpkin soup...which seemed to stick everywhere!! Please rest assured that the feeling doesn't last long...and I'm still amazed after 10 months that food doesn't sho...

Hi
I had the same a few months back- zig zag/laceback wire on top of archwire. My ortho explained it is basically so the teeth move as a group rather than individually. It is a bit of a pain with eating/cleaning, but like everything else brace related, you get used to it and it wasn't on for that long.

Hi You'll see photos of a great result for lower incisor extraction in Lora's blog: http://www.public.iastate.edu/~lora/braces_decision.html I had a single lower incisor extraction for severe upper/lower crowding, and also had reservations, but as my ortho put it, when you're looking at a white pick...

Hi I was in a similar positioin- severe crowding top and bottom, and had always been self-conscious about my smile, despite family/friends saying they didn't really notice, and that these imperfections made me 'me', if you like!! It took me years to decide to go through with this, and if I'd known b...

Hi again Beanstix Glad the link gave you some useful info- I do hope IPR can help you. Just out of curiosity, did you get a diagnostic plaster set up of your teeth before you started treatment? I was given a model of what my teeth would look like after treatment with the lower incisor extracted and ...

Hi Beanstix So sorry to hear your concerns this far down the track. I remember your posts last time; I also had a lower central incisor extraction- my overbite/overjet were both 3mm at the start of treatment (severe crowding top and bottom) and my ortho has said my overbite will only be 2 mm at the ...

I am very happy with my treatment so far. I have never felt that I am being hurried out after my adjustments, and my ortho has always answered any questions I have and goes out of his way to tell me what to expect, where I am in the treatment etc. I chose this practice because of my consultation wti...

Hi Beanstix You haven't disheartened me at all..don't worry! Fortunately I have an ortho I trust and he has always explained everything carefully to me. He even said that the overbite won't be that noticeable (though as my teeth straighten, I'm not so sure about that- it feels like the top are stick...

Hi Beanstix I had a lower central incisor extraction and am about 5 months into treatment, so quite a way off completion. Sorry to hear your concerns. How many mm is your overbite? My ortho told me that I would have a 3-4 mm overbite with this type of extraction, but that he could definitely trim th...

Re: what are build-ups?
I know they are a pasty type of glue they put on top of your banded molars but what do they do and what do they feel like. Any Pictures and/or info is appreciated. I had build ups placed on the same day as I was braced to stop my top teeth hitting my bottom brackets. They felt a bit weird at first,...
