Hi Candy I had similar responses like this when I first started braces. Temperature sensitivity, isolated pain (mostly from TMG clenching in the nights) and general sensitivity. What I started using was Sensodyne Pro Enamel. This is mostly for soft spots, etc. but I found it also targets sensitivity...

Ultra-Elastic Stains
I know this topic has come up before, but I'm feeling a bit stumped and know there must be a solution among all the expertise on here :) A new East Indian restaurant just opened and we enjoyed dinner there tonight. There was a mixture of several different curries, etc. that tasted wonderful but mana...

I can totally relate to the wire poking situation!!! I was going in regularly to get the wires in the back snipped and about two months ago they decided to try a new tactic. They put a dent in the back of the wires to prevent them from shifting out of place. Even so, I still get poking. I've gone in...

This has happened to me on a good couple of occassions. The worst batch was after my second-last adjustment. My top wire kept shifting left and was poking in the back corner and my cheek, tearing it up. I went in to my ortho and they moved it back the first two times, the third they put the little V...

Hi flipib05 I won't be able to add a bunch on the retainer end, since I am still in the braces. I just think it's too bad you're having so much trouble when you should be celebrating that your braces are off! All I wanted to say was that if your teeth are already starting to shift when you got the b...

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I have been using Crest Sensitivity toothpaste and it's certainly reduced the consistency of pain, but not completly. I watch extreme temperatures, but sometimes it's just as easy as breathing in on a cold morning. Something interesting came up in your comment wmast...

Tooth Sensitivity
Anyone else having issues with this? I feel sometimes like I have cavities or something. The site of the sensitivity keeps changing from one area to another, and the dentist says my teeth are cavity-free. But that's what it feels like... I've got lots of gaps going on these days as they close the ex...

Sorry to hear that Zondrae. Just sharing personal experience, though I don't know if it'll do much when you're feeling at your worst. Around my fifth adjustment, I started feeling a lot of pain too. Aggressive treatments attempting to close gaps seemed to hurt that day and then for about four days a...

Whew, apparently it's been a while since I've posted on here. To give some general updates, I had my last couple of adjustments early because wires on the top were starting to poke in the back. My ortho was pleased with the progress and has been using power chains to keep pulling the extraction gaps...

Hi Belle I don't have elastics, but I do have TMJ. What I have found is that treatment with braces, no matter what, has its moments that are both good for and not good for TMJ. I'm still in bite plates (I thought they were coming off sooner) and my ortho seems to be aggressively trying to move my bi...

Like everyone else is saying, you can eat anything. Just be more aware and conscious how you are doing it and you should be fine. I still eat lots of nuts or foods with nuts in them, but I make a point of putting them between the back molars and chewing them, rather than biting them with the front t...
