dayeangphurr, if you feel you might be experiencing psychological difficulty in regards to this issue, maybe the best thing for you to do would be to find a competent therapist or psychologist so that you can discuss this problem in an appropriate setting. If there are psychological problems connect...

bb, the dirty little secret that orthodontists don't like to discuss is root tip resorption. It happens in just about all adult orthodontic cases in small amounts. If you continue to move a tooth around, it stands to reason that it becomes more severe. That tooth has been moving around since 2006. N...

Hello, all. It's been a long time since I posted last. I was de-banded a year ago...or so I thought. After a couple of months the orthodontist discovered that the lower left second bicuspid had pushed out of place, so he constructed a special retainer with a spring for me to wear, to push it back in...

Nomadic, there is no diagnostic tool to give you a conclusive answer. Your best answer comes from a qualified specialist. I am giving you the same advice that I gave you before. If you have uncertainty in your mind about your condition, see another specialist, preferably a oral/maxillofacial surgeon...

I had absolutely no TMJ symptoms pre-surgery. I know have regular popping and clicking. Foods which are difficult to chew remain challenging, even now that my active treatment is long past over. It is not painful, more of an annoyance than anything else, and one of those daily reminders of what I've...

nomadic, I'm glad that you seemed to have a more restful night last night. May you continue to sleep with a more relaxed jaw. :) I'm also glad that you are planning on seeing another surgeon for a second opinion. The second opinion never hurts! Keep us posted on how things progress. It's a good thin...

hi Nomadic, My case is well documented here on AW. Feel free to read through my posts. I suggest that you find another surgeon and get a second opinion. If you are near a teaching hospital with a reputable dental program, go there for your second opinion. Five months is a very long time for you to n...

My last surgery was in December of 2007. I was debanded one week ago.

My 7's still don't touch. My orthodontist says that's the last thing to happen. I am being patient with that.

Be well, and at peace,

I'm just back from the orthodontist this morning. The lower Hawley (for nightwear) popped right in with only truly tiny adjustments. :) The orthodontist corrected the premature incisor contact with some very minor adjustments. He assured me that this was perfectly normal and expected, and that he ex...

Thanks again to everyone for their well wishes.

My anterior bite seems to be sorting itself out, thanks to the retainer, which has guided the wayward incisors back that tiny bit (I think).

Time will tell, but it appears that I am lookin' good!

Be well, and at peace,

Thank you, All, for your well wishes. Went back this afternoon for the upper essex retainer fitting. I get a lower Hawley for nightwear next week. Incisor relationship is not perfect. Premature contact. It happened between debanding and retainers--two hours. Can you believe it? I'm wondering if the ...

Well, de-banding came and went. For those of you who are not yet banded--here's some advice: Damons don't come off as easily as standard titanium brackets. Clear brackets don't come off very easily either, although they went well, comparatively speaking. If you'd like to see a picture of my bracket-...

Thanks, all for the well wishes.

I am very anxious (after what I have been through) about pain associated with removal of brackets, especially the ceramic uppers. Anyone had experience with that? I've heard that they don't come off as easily as the metal ones.

De-Banding Day

Tomorrow is my debanding day. I have been reticent to post about it, because I have this nagging fear that I'm going to sit down in the chair, open my mouth, and he'll say, "THREE MORE WEEKS!" So, anyway, if it really happens, I'll let you all know. If it doesn't happen, I'll let you know ...
