I got Hawleys on Thursday and am still getting used to the speech. It was very annoying the first few days because I had so much trouble talking. It's better now, but still not quite normal. I think it's because I have such a small mouth and my tongue is quite crowded with the Hawleys. I got sentenc...

Separation Anxiety
So my deband date is tomorrow morning. I had a dream the other night that my wire was out for whatever reason when it should not have been, and all my teeth were wonky and loose. One of them was even shrunken and flopped over like a wilted flower! I freaked out and found my wire and stuck it back in...

Getting debanded on the 28th. WOOHOO! Was so excited at just the though of being done that I never asked about what type of retainer I'm getting... I had an Essix when I got them taken off for 2 weeks for my wedding, but the receptionist who just finished her treatment got a Hawley. I just hope that...

Hi JTT, It sounds like you had a pretty bad experience with your Damon ortho and the Damon system. I am glad ceramics worked for you and that you go the medical attention you needed. I too have had both Damons and Ceramics so I thought I'd share my experience. My ortho started me off on ceramics, pe...

I had an expander with ceramic brackets, then Damon brackets and just a wire, and 4 extractions. The expander wasn't surgically implanted, just cemented to 4 of my teeth. The Damons eliminated the need for an expander, although the brackets are more visible than ceramics. My arches were pretty narro...

Impressions? Finally??
Went for my 39th month adjustment this week and my ortho tells me that if my teeny gaps close up with the powerchain in 4 weeks, then they can take impressions and get me ready to finish up!! I though I'd never get to this point. Dropped off the face of Archwired for a while because my progress seem...

Ditto on Kim's comment on seeing how your teeth react. I decided early on not to ask my ortho how long things will take so as not to disappoint myself if I went over the time, which i did, unfortunately. I did ask some questions before i started, like do i need headgear, elastics, etc. I started wit...

My upper teeth moved much faster than my lowers. I only have teeny gaps to close up on both, so obviously I'm still fully braced. But if your uppers are done and your lowers still have yet to catch up, I'm pretty sure your ortho will keep you fully braced too. That way, if for whatever reason he nee...

Progress pictures after my last adjustment. Time elapsed is 7 weeks. Ortho said that I made 2x the amount of progress that he normally sees between adjustments. Average is about 1 mm movement. I had about 2.5 mm on the top and bottom. I must say the spaces are closing pretty quickly. All he did was ...
