Anna, KatieBug had a Herbst. She's got a blog in the Braces Stories section. I can't think of anyone else though.

Nail clippers might do it if it's one of those thin round wires. Or you could try wire cutters (I've done it) but it's hard to get back there without cutting your cheek - and mind you don't swallow the cut-off bit!

That sounds pretty cheap (I assume you're in the UK as you quoted prices in £s) Have you asked what would happen if treatment took longer than expected though and you needed extra appointments? Or if you needed emergency appointments for breakages. Would you have to pay extra? I only ask because it...

I do the tongue test at various points during the meal and have a glass of water handy for discreet swishing. If I'm at all concerned about "hangers-on" I'll nip to the bathroom afterwards for a quick check. Unfortunately in the UK it's not considered polite to use a toothpick at table. Wh...

You'll be fine. Like Meryaten said, have wax to hand in case any brackets or wires are rubbing your cheeks. Drink plenty of water to keep the inside of your mouth moist. Lay in a supply of soft food like pasta, and also some mild pain killers in case your teeth are sore for a few days. Also get into...

I generally avoid nuts because there's such a massive clean-up operation involved afterwards. I do not bite into very hard food like whole apples or raw carrots. I don't eat very sticky things like toffee. Apart from that I eat everything I did before, including popcorn. If I go to the cinema, popco...

That sounds a lot more hopeful Clo . If you could keep your bottom braces and the top front ones on, it would hopefully stop your front teeth going out of line while the top molars were intruded.
Hopefully orthos 3 and 4 will co-operate with each other in acheiving a good bite for you. :D

Clo, I am hoping with every atom of hope I possess that ortho #4 will be able to help you.

I'm so desperate for you to get the help you need to put this mess straight.

I've had 2 come off in 2 1/2 years. One came off on its own and the other snapped off when my ortho was trying to get the wire in. I don't count that one because it was his fault
