How long before...

How long before your teeth really "set" into their new positions after you get your braces off? I got mine off almost four months ago and I can still wiggle my teeth around with my fingers.

It's the only one I've found that can stand up to what goes on on the rugby pitch. While it is quite bulky, it's easy to breathe and protects your lips from the brackets well.

Last tuesday I got (1) new stainless steel finishing wires, (2) new powerchains top and bottom (which are now yellow and disgusting thanks to the mustard I had today) and (3) my first exprience with elastics, class 3 configuration (top molars to lower canines). I'm loving life! :ouch:

Changing elastics

I drink 3-4 cups of Earl Grey everyday and I'll tell you right now - it makes you ligs\powerchains absolutely disgusting. I'm switching back to black powerchains on my next appointment. AlthoughI feel somewhat childish with the colors, it's better than how gross they are looking now.

Alot of it is definantly the teenager stuck in braces. That's one stereotype thats never going away. But also it has to do with the awkwardness and gestures like putting your hand over your mouth when laughing and the "lips closed smile." Having metal (as opposed to ceramic) and adding col...

I've had powerchains for a year now on my upper arch and two months on my lower arch. I was told at my next adjustment I'd be getting my "finishing wires" which got me all excited...until I heard that it's still going to be another 6-8 months. So much for a braces free summer.

You might want to try a different wax. I've found two different kinds in the stores. I'm not sure of the companies that make them, but one says "Orthodontists Choice" on the case, the other says "Smile Wax for Braces." I've found the "Orthodontists Choice" is way too so...

Snapped powerchain

Does a broken powerchain warrant a visit to the ortho or do you think it can wait till next time?

If they took mine off for a weekend I'd never let them put 'em back on.

Absolutely terrible day

Went in for an adjustment today and started with the usual weather smalltalk and then the assistant said, "Well looks like your just about halfway through your treamtment."  :-+ My original estimate was 18-24 months and I've already had them 16 months. Judging by how good my t...

My ortho did the service for free. It doesn't take all that long and it didn't hurt at all. The only thing that sucked was the spacers I had to deal with in preparation http://img395.imageshack.us/img395/8398/dscn09012gd.th.jpg With that said I would say DO NOT under any circumstances let your denti...

I never had TPA appliances of anything like that, but your experience is shaping up to be alot like mine. When I first got my braces on my bottom teeth did not show much when I smiled because I had a bit of an overbite plus a slight overjet. Over time as my top teeth were brought back and my bottom ...

I'm a 23 year old male with 3M smartclips (metal self ligating braces). When I finally decided to get braces I knew from the beginning I would get metal because I found the look of the clear to be somewhat feminine (not knocking any males out there with the clear braces, it's just my personal opinio...

I did that once a few months ago because I got in a fight (I'm bouncer so it happens every now and again) and managed to stop a few of his punches with my face. Of course he wound up knocked out and sent to jail, so I think I got the better end of the deal.
