i had ceramics, and I wanted to change to metals because I was fed up with staining. I was too much of a cheapskate not to get them swapped over, because I was told it would cost me to get them swapped. metal are better.. 1) they don't stain (or at least the ligatures don't stain 2) apparantly the t...

Care post-treament (bonded retainers)
Hi I've been demanded since whatever it says on my sig, I think 2 years and 2 months. The treatment was all inclusive and up to 12 months deband care. Obviously it's a lot longer than that now. I've had essix retainers (to wear a couple times a week during nights atm), and bonded retainers from cani...

I had a problem where the roots of my upper right canine was almost entirely sticking of my gums. I felt like if I bit something hard the roots of my canine would pop out. It was a really bizarre problem, and the scary thing was I thought he'd get round to fixing it eventually, but never mentioned y...

take the pictures and show your ortho... he may see the light, and correct it or he may tell you your worries are unfounded and your pictures are wrong or he may tell you there's nothing he can do about it and nobodies arches are ever 100% perfect Whatever happens at least you'll be happy knowing th...

My ortho has been paticularly accomodating and gave me fixed bonded AND essix retainers, the essix were meant to be worn every night for the first month, and then slowly ease off.. Now I'm meant to wear it twice a week.. I think.. I got debraced on Dec 07, and now it's Apr 09. I wear in every now an...

Wisdom teeth removal (no pain though)
One of my wisdom tooth is growing, 3 of them seem to be stuck semi-exposed and won't budge. They've been in the same state for 2 years before my braces, and the ortho even stated on his consultation result that 3 of them are impacted. But he hasn't said anything about getting them pulled out. My hyg...

self ligating brackets
when i got my braces done, about 2 years ago, I didn't really have the option of having self ligating brackets, I had clarity brackets on with standard elastic ligatures. my treatment took about 20 months, I suspect that if the brackets were a lot looser and 'self-ligating' the treatment would have ...

when you're cutting the archwire yourself, you risk flatteing the wire using incorrect equipment/wrong technique and making it difficult for your ortho to pull the wires out. I would really reccomend phoning the ortho to get the wires cut. They usually fit you in on the day, as it's only a few secon...

Wow your teeth look fantastic! Just a question - is your ortho happy that your teeth will be kept in place for 2 weeks with bonded retainer only? I've also posted in here ('Help! My retainer's been stolen!') I've just gone to bonded retainers and was given a clear Essix type retainer to wear at nig...

The remains of the clarity brackets attached to my tooth were sanded off (if that's the right word). When the braces came off the surface where the brackets used to be had a matt appearance, where as the surrounding area was shiny. I just assumed that it's a bit soon to apply harsh peroxide onto it ...
