Re: Unsatisfied with result, braces off soon plz judge and h
A lot has to do with the shape of your teeth, which might need to be reshaped or bonded.. You said you had a crossfit, which usually is corrected by surgery and not braces alone....

Re: Anyone have a permanent upper retainer? Opinions?
I initially got the essix for both top and bottom. After a short while, I requested to have the bonded wire for my lowers. The issue I had with that was that the cement kept coming loose, so you have to be aware of that. I eventually went back to removable essix, and decided to order Viveras (made b...

Re: Advice from athletes
Tennis is very different than mountain biking. If it is a sport with any chance of collision or contact, I would wait a solid 2 months. It's not worth it. You can start doing light exercises after a couple of weeks, but don't risk contact sports anytime sooner than the 2 month mark, imo. From person...

Re: Midlines
How bad is your midline off? People who undergo extractions won't even have a midline. A perfectly centred midline is not exactly indicative of a proper bite. Each tooth isn't exactly the same size, so your bite can be perfect, and your midline may not be. My midline isn't bang on, but it's only off...

Re: Depression and coping with braces
Think of it this way... How depressed/self conscious about your teeth and smile for the past 30 years? Braces are temporary and 2 years out of your life. I commend you in going through with getting braces. It is a big move both financially and emotionally. I always look up to adults who get braces l...

Re: 2 Years with braces
I think they look great. I remember when I was told I would be debraced the next appointment, I wasn't sure as I didn't think my teeth looked "perfect". They look completely different without the brackets on, trust me. They look so much bigger and better. Depending on whether you need it done or you...

Re: Teeth creep when bonded retainer got loose
I had the bonded wire immediately after I had my braces removed. I kept the essix for the top though. I soon realized that a bonded retainer wasn't going to cut it as it got loose after only about a month. I was better off wearing the essix, and now vivera, every night. I have been wearing my retain...

Re: SLIDING GENIOPLASTY REGRETS!!
You need to give it some time. It could take up to 6 months or more for all the swelling and the healing to be 100%. I remember I was very depressed when I had my mandible setback and sliding genioplasty. I didn't recognize the person and combined with the post op anasthesia, I was not a happy campe...

vivera/essix losing its shape
I have been debraced for close to 3 years now, and have been wearing vivera every night since my debracing. I have 4 sets of Vivera retainers, and noticed that my first set doesn't fit as snug anymore. I attributed this to my teeth being completely stable, but at the same time it was a bit loser tha...

to ad what others have posted... usually when you have surgery the position of your jaw/teeth post op is not going to be the way your bite is when your braces come off.. you will still go into elastics to "perfect" the bite. the surgery was merely to reposition your jaw so the underbite was eliminat...

I hate to admit it, but I never flossed before I got braces. I do it every night, now, but I didn't before and I never had cavaties. I only had one in my whole life, it was on a molar, and it was inside it, not anywhere near the gum line. So yeah, flossing is good and all, but your teeth won't rot ...

relapse isnt just your teeth shifting from it's current state to the way it was before.. because your teeth is sitting in the bones of your jaw, your teeth with shift for the rest of your life, whether it is noticebale or not. the bones in your body are always breaking down/remodelling, which is wha...
