hi phanta, thanks for your reply. yes, i DO have naturally short roots, that's why i'm scared. But after KK's comments, i feel better. my ortho will have frequent x-rays taken of my teeth to make sure my naturally short roots don't shrivel up even more! as far as i know, i'm ok in the gum dept...not...

ah KK, you're like a breath of fresh air!!!!! thank you so much for your comforting reply...it's really what i needed to hear...why didn't i think of that? you're right...the x-rays will tell the course....i guess i'm just afraid of not getting my bad bite fixed..but heck, if i lived with it for 39....

hi there indy, thanks for the reply. yes, trauma can cause short roots (that's why ordinary people can get root reabsorption from braces).... i had a trauma to my two bottom teeth and now they are 'dead'...they had a natural root canal...meaning my teeth somehow had a natural root canal and the root...

thanks shawnie, dichca and others! yes, i have the genetic problem of short roots and braces could cause my teeth to fall out...(yes, just a tad terrifying) so, he recommended braces only on the bottom bec. my roots on bottom are a little bit longer...he'll also have me take frequent x-rays to make ...

ShorT RooTs
has anyone here been told that braces could compromise their existing teeth secondary to having short roots? i've just been told this by my ortho. he advised me to only get bottom braces and frequent x=rays to see how my roots are doing during braces (treatment). any info would be greatly appreciated!

hi flora, thanks for asking !!! gosh, if you were here, i'd give you a big hug! well, it was all surprising, and not in a good way....first off...he told me that after viewing my x-rays that i have short-roots....i had three choices: not receive treatment at all 2. take treatment on tops and bottoms...

i just had my 2nd appt. with her ortho and he mentioned only 8 months of wearing the head-gear....he also said we'd have to use the key to turn the appliance to make it tighter like you did with your daughter...how frightening! my daughter will have to wear the reverse-pull face-mask at night/after ...
