I am 8 days post op and have been told again today by an ortho that it will be 6 to possibly 9 months before the braces are off. Worst thing is I will have to fly from Ireland to Belgium each month for my ortho appointments as we are about to move to Ireland and I don't want to change ortho this far...

sounds like we are on the same timeline, I had my lower jaw and chin done on July 2nd and am also enjoying the delights of a liquid diet. Elastics are driving me crazy and I have taken them off a few times to release the pain in my head. I am back with the doc tmrw to see how things are progressing....

my son has just asked 'who are those people' when he saw your before and after pics. You look very different (as per someone else's msg that does mean you looked bad beforehand!!) and your face is definitely more symmetrical. I am questionning whether or not to get the chin job done. Does is add muc...

I haven't been on line in ages and was delighted to check in and see your posting and pics. You look fantastic for someone so soon after surgery and the change is already very apparent. Hang on in there! I got my date for surgery only yesterday - July 2nd. It is being done a bit sooner than planned ...

post operative illness
hello all, I have just spent 4 days in hospital recovering from bacterial pneumonia and septicimia - was not fun. Am on the mend but have been told it will take a few weeks of rest and doing very little before I feel ok again. The lung specialist thinks I got ill because of being run down after the ...

I asked if they had other patients I could speak too and in both cases I was provided with names. I also spoke to another dentist about the 2 orthos and got his opinion. I think some it also has to go on your gut reaction to the ortho. Do you like his manner and how he talks to you? Do you like his ...

Kimberley, I has been great reading your posts. I am due for surgery next year - at the moment both jaws will be moved but the OS will confirm later this year. I have noticed that already with braces and the SRAPE surgery that my face looks different. Has yours changed much after the jaw surgery? Zita

metals top and bottom as my ortho says they work faster and would be more appropriate for my problems. My teeth are crowded but the main reason I went with getting the braces was because of the pains in my head, neck and face. Had SARPE last month, surgery to move jaw next year. Already notice no he...

braced today
Braced earlier today, not as bad as I thought although I feel my mouth is huge, Came home and my 4 yr old decided to give me a hug to make me feel better and whacked my mouth with his head. Not his fault but has not helped me ease into braces. Teeth very sensitive on upper left and were sore getting...

you've done the hardest part by signing up for all this work, generally people have discomfort with expanders and braces but nobody I have read about has experienced agony with this work. I had an expander put in with surgery (as have many others) and yes it has been difficult but bearable. Nothing ...

I had nos 4 out on top, 5 on bottom, no pain. Was pretty amazing and I felt like hugging the doc afterwards. Spacers had been put in 2 weeks earlier. There was no pain just discomfort as he pushed them in. Ortho said he wouldn't be able to put in all of them as teeth were so tightly packed so he onl...

I had 4 extractions on Weds (teeth 4 on top, 5 on bottom) and still finding it difficult to eat. tend not to chew food so wearing out forks with all my mashing! Doc told me to use a mouthwash after each meal to rinse out mouth properly and so far things seem to be healing well - I used isobetadine f...
