Kiwi (and others who read my post about the school)- A little clarification may help things. 1. "Abuse" is an American term for "tease" or "give me grief", in the context I used it. The kids like to ask me how much I spent on my shoes and things because they know I don'...

JumptheDitch I think our differences are summarized in your statement: "Please find something positive or supportive to say, or don't say anything at all." Have you forwarded that requirement on to Lynn so she can include it in the Board Guidelines so all will be held to the same standard?

What about him apologizing to me, or has everyone conveniently overlooked the fact that there was a reason I posted the email that I did.? Maybe the better question is: Can anyone recount my matter of concern with Dr. J's post? Not all the silliness that has followed, but what was my concern? Enough...

I will explain my comment about the kids. In addition to my regular practice, I will substitute teach when I can. I am currently on a 10-week assignment with high schoolers in a moderate/low income part of the county. It is a big school (2,700 students, grades 9-12) and like all schools, peer pressu...

Since the post talked about the gap, I did notice it, but it should be treatable with ortho. You should have seen mine as a child....

Adjustments were pretty similar, but more frequent. However, because every tooth was banded, there was no problem with brackets falling off, or having to be replaced, so the "repair" component was less. If I recall, the band had a little bracket part attached, so it was all one piece and I...

Please explain how my posts can hurt anyone.

You seem to be giving me way more power than I have.

I am not going to explain my comment for the third time. Interpret it however you want.

And people think I am sensitive?

Considering the nature of the comments many (but certainly not all!) people make to me, I thought offending people was an "occupational hazard" one had to expect here. I have no problems if you are offended by the comment. I made it because of the 3 orthos I went to, all 3 pushed ceramics ...

So I post something negative. Big deal. So I post something positive. Big deal. There are an awful lot of young people who post here who do deserve to hear both sides of the ortho story....some are great, but when you're not sure you're happy, it's OK to speak up. I think that is a very valuable les...

Talk about them TO STRANGERS, not meaning in a forum I opted to go in (but really wonder why...) to talk about them. What I find interesting is that I have enough pride and self confidence in my appearance not to "hide" my braces by getting ceramic upppers, as it seems most adults do. I ha...

Same question about the metal allergy- Since you said you are not an "adult" (sometimes I wonder if those of us over 18 really are!), I trust a parent/guardian is involved in your treatment. Can you check with them about the allergy issue? If they don't know, they can call the ortho office...

Everyone posts from their own perspective. Because I worked in a psych hospital for troubled adolescents, we had youths ingesting just about every substance you can imagine, liquid, solid, or gas. My position was one that mandated a license by the state - if someone ingested something and I failed t...

Would it be consistent with your treatment plan to only have the one painful tooth removed? If the rest seem "comfortably lodged" in your mouth and the ortho doesn't think they will cause a problem, maybe they can extract just the one that is already erupting and causing a prob and let the...

Kiwi- I agree 100% with what you said. This is what the master page states - it very definitely gives the impression that the people responding will be "docs" and that there really are "docs". I thought the Metal Mouth forum served as the venue for lay questions about orthodontic...
