If it is a true decalcification then it is a lesion strictly in enamel. If you are diligent about brushing/flossing you may get lucky. May I suggest a fluoride rinse in conjuction to help out? Act is good stuff as is PhosFlur.

Ho Ho Ho,

The fame and notoriety that will come with winning this competition is worth the excess aggravation from having so much hardware in my mouth. It is worth the risk of adding new hardware. I think the winner should get an Archwired.com magnet to stick on their face. That being said, anyone that puts u...

I'll do a little showing off  This is with a "normal" adult dentition with no 3rd molars (28 toofs). I have 1 tooth with nothing on it, although he could probably use to be bracketed as well. 14x - Metal Brackets 6x - Ceramic Brackets 7x - Molar Bands w/ lingual hooks 12x - Lingual ho...

thanks Lisa! . that sounds right on the money! i researched it a bit more, and found that torus mandibular is often associated with, and forms due to bruxism (teeth grinding), which is what i do! and as a result, also have an uncomfortable "click" when i open my left jaw. but by looking a...

Ok, the prescribed time is until the 14th. And since I've to go for a checkup on the 17th, I've two days until the checkup. Two days mean 4 turns. So, that is the perfect time to replace the 4 turns I've missed. Is that okay? Call your ortho and ask, s/he is the person responsible for your care, tr...

Re: recommedation for Ortho in SC, upstate

Is there anyone here from upstate south Carolina? Could you recommend some good ortho here? I am desperate here. I went to a bunch of consultation but still can't decide which one is good and which one I should go to? Any recommendations? TY! Let me know a more specific area of SC (Aiken, Columbia,...

I'm too much the cheapskate for Phosflur! I used ACT. Or, if possible, the Rite Aid equivalent as this was cheaper still ;) Just different delivery methods of fluoride ions. Phosflur is great stuff, but so is Act. I use Act religiously and recommend it to many of my patients. Good stuff!! But techn...

Complete stabilization of the support structure typically takes 9-12 months. Your teeth will feel stronger as time goes on, but plan on a full year before everything behind the scenes is good to go. This is why it is so important to be diligent about wearing your retainer post treatment, especially...

Hi Z , Well, I don't have an RPE, but in my unprofessional opinion, you'll just have to add those extra days in the process. Trying to catch up sounds like a bad idea. Since you've already phoned and they told you too keep it at two turns a day, stick with that. You wouldn't want to over stress you...

I also had the same problem with my veneers. Within half an hour of being braced, I heard a couple of pops and the brackets had snapped off my teeth. They were re-attached a couple of days later, only to pop off again... And again ! Finally my ortho used some sort of industrial strength etching liq...

Hi, Take something like a cotton ball similar and stretch it out and fold it over so it is slightly firm and it looks like a little log. The point is to make it look like a cylinder but has a little firmness. Place the cotton on the molar in question and bite down into it. Move it to different point...

That is a class II malocclusion with deep (complete) overbite. It's what I had. In my case, I needed braces and surgery to correct it. It's verrrry common in Brits, or so I have been told. There is no way to tell from the picture if it is indeed a class II malocclusion. Although with that extreme o...

It is a complicated answer and nobody knows for sure. But genetics do play a role in development so it also plays a role in your "wonkiness". Oral habits during development as well as any interferences and bite issues will cause your teeth to shift over time. It is really a compensation of...

Correct, Dilantin (an anti-seizure medication) is one of the most well known meds that will cause gingival hyperplasia. How is your home care? A gingevectomy is often times a good solution, just make sure you do a great job of home care and regular recall visits. Chlorohexidine works well if the cau...
