Clo, personally I would see as many orthos as it takes to get things fixed (as long as my wallet could handle it, that is). Don't feel bad about seeing yet another one, nobody's counting your orthos but you :) I know it's frustrating - I've had my own experiences of bouncing around from one doctor t...

Actually, Clo, that seems to be the plan. The expanding was done in July, but I'm still wearing the same appliance as a retainer. The ortho's assistant suggested at the last appointment that maybe it could be replaced with a regular one (without the screw). It just bugs me a little that these things...

Well, there was another communication mix up with my ortho. She's a specialist in that area of expertise  Turned out that now I'm using both kinds of retainers: the regular one at daytime AND the positioner at night time - both nice and gaggy. I could swear the ortho said that if I get used...

Having impressions taken: here's a handy trick

I had dental impressions taken for a positioner the other day. That procedure always makes me gag like crazy, but this time the ortho's assistant showed me a trick that worked like a charm: while having the impression tray up your mouth, roll your ankles around. I have no idea why that helps, but it...

Hi, Clo! Yes, the appliance did what it was expected to do and now I'm looking forward to the next thingy, the positioner, that should release me from daytime retainer wear and teach my tongue a lesson or two about not pushing my teeth any more outwards. In two months I still haven't got accustomed ...

Thank you, diande :) Went to the dentist today: zero cavities! Everything in perfect order! YAY! The dentist filed down my left front tooth a little (where there is a little bit of the corner of the tooth missing) to make it look more in balance with the other front tooth, and it does look better now.

Thanks, everyone! First of all: boy I love posting in the Naked Tooth section now after a long stay at Our Braces Stories  The latest: I had my first post-braces appointment at the ortho's today. Turned out that there is a new tongue related problem: previously the problem was that my tongue...

My ortho did a check up on my expander-retainer today. I found out that this appliance can do tricks the braces could not - hence the "2 in 1" appliance I had never seen or heard of before. My left molars are way too willing to stay in a crossbite and this expander-retainer is used to forc...

I had my bonded retainer (on lowers) put on immediately after the braces were off. When I went in to get debanded they had the lower bonded retainer ready: the lower impression was done at the appointment before that. The upper bonded retainer was put on the next day after I had expressed my own wor...

Nobody told me not to use toothpaste on my Hawley so I have. Never came to think about whether it is OK or not. I hope it is!

CONGRATULATIONS - looks great! :jump: For the first time in my life, I don't feel like covering my mouth with a hand when I smile, and am going to have to practice smiling showing teeth, because I've never done that before. I can totally relate to this after being ashamed of my teeth for three decad...
