Really it's no big deal once you get used to it, I can even eat most things with it in. It does very slightly affect speech but nowhere near as much as some palatal appliances.

From what I understand anterior extrusion is the least stable mode of correction and should be avoided as much as possible. TADs or headgear can intrude the posterior which is thought to be more stable...

Yah from what I understand there definitely is a place for extractions. That being said I would want to be sure it's the best way as I think orthos sometimes use extractions for convenience. Perhaps there are other options like TAD's or headgear that could reduce the need for extractions.

I have recently had some small gaps appear between a few teeth, double powerchains seem to help a little, but not enough. Has anyone had something else like springs used for this purpose?
