I was told by my ortho this depends on so many things such as where the extractions are, size of the tooth, what else they are working at correcting, etc. He said in adults it could take up to a year. Mine were closed in 3-4 months, which he said was really fast!

I got my braces in February of 2005 and was told treatment would take 24 - 30 months. However, progress has been very good and he is comfortable telling me I will have them off before the end of this year! Yea!!!!

Wow, that does seem odd to have them replaced so often. I've had my braces since February 8, 2005 and next month will have a few replaced, for the first time. He is doing it to fine-tune a few teeth. I think I am getting close to getting de-braced. :D

I've got a few brackets that need to be re-positioned next month. My ortho said the appointment may take about 5 minutes longer than usual. He said I will be surprised at how easily he will pop them off. I believe he said they will remove the old adhesive and put new on. Is that what tastes so funny...

I don't do all that much either. I brush after every meal. Sometimes I can't brush immediately after eating so I use a proxy brush or a paper clip (Good Lord!) to get food out. I floss once per week. My dentist and ortho say things are looking very nice. They have never recommended waterpiks, rinses...

I had my braces put on in February of 2005. I had power chains to close the gaps from my extractions. But I now have power chains on across my upper and lowers and have had for quite some time. I think they are holding all that great progress in place?

Oh yeah, I remember my dry socket like it was yesterday. Even though it was over a year ago... What I remember most was when I went in to see if it was dry socket because it hurt so bad. They had me lean back in the chair so they could look and without saying a thing shoved that packing in there and...

My elastics were put on after 11 months of treatment. They form a triangle with one point on the top and two on the bottom. I have no idea what they are there for. I'm one of those who doesn't ask questions. I just do what I'm told which is change them about 5 times per day. If I new how to a...

I am a 38 year old real estate broker and have no regrets with getting the full metals either. I was really worried what my clients would think. Honestly, I have not had a single client who has even seemed to care! I think it's just a matter of your own personal preference what you are comfortable w...

I just found this site yesterday and am really enjoying looking through the forums. I am 38 and got my braces 2/8/05 so it is almost exactly one year. I was told it would be 24 - 30 months, but have the feeling they will be off in less than 24. I have full metal on top and bottom and when they were ...
