I noticed the other day in the waiting room another patient looking through a catalog for hawley choices. I wasn't ever given a choice but I am guessing since I'm an adult, got clear braces, always got clear ligs, they assumed I would get the pink. I might have gone for sparkles or something but oh ...

my molds were taken 2 weeks BEFORE debanding. i was given the retainers at the debanding.

Nope I don't have any. In any case I'll be sticking to white vinegar since it's so cheap.

I have a hawley retainer too, and my ortho recommends denture cleaner or white vinegar. They actually recommend vinegar over denture cleaner just because it's cheaper. Is vinegar bad for solder too? I don't think either of my retainers have solder points actually.

YAY ITS GONE!!!! This morning the ortho got out his dremmel and shaved off acrylic from various places, re-shaped the wire, and tada my two front teeth are back together! :BigTeethGrin: He said if this doesn't work, they'd make a new retainer (on them, wouldn't cost me anything). I don't think he's trying to do anything but prevent my bite from relapsing. Before I got braces my front teeth completely coverd my bottom teeth! I think you are right that teeth shift both directions. I had a deep overbite and they gave me a retainer that doesnt allow me to close my mouth all the way to keep my bite open. Maybe they have something to do the opposite?

so they tightened up my retainer, but it doesnt seem to be doing anything the ortho said if it doesn't fix it they can put on springs? i think i will have to call on tuesday and make an appt for that. ahhhhh.

the ortho asst at my debanding appt told me I'd have a few appts in the next month or two, then after that I wouldn't have one for 6 months. Then I think after that I'm done!

Thanks everyone. The gap dosent seem to be getting any worse thankfully so they can probably fix it easily tomorrow. It doesn't seem to make a difference in the gap if my retainer is off or on, so I guess they just have to tighten it up like you said.

I have a hawley retainer and the instruction sheet that the ortho gave me with it actually said if you don't have your retainer case w/ you when you eat, to just eat with it on.
