I had my splint for a little over 5 weeks. It was connected to my top braces by two wires. It did make me talk with a lisp, but after a bit i got used to positioning my tongue so that i didn't lisp too much, only on certain words.

Hi CMeyer, Glad to see that you are on the other side! I had the same surgery as you about a month ago! If you are at 10 days you'll be feeling a lot better soon! That's when I started feeling a lot better. I'm so jeleous that you go the splint off already. I had heavy bands for 2 weeks, and I still...

oh, I couldn't tell from the picture... I thought maybe you were really young(like teens/late teens)... it's hard to tell from a picture of teeth...
either way, as long as you get a good result then that's all that matters right :D

Hi Chris, I just read your story, and your progress is amazing! My bottom teeth were similar to yours, as they were behind the other teeth, but mine didn't take as long to be attached to the wire. Good luck with loads more progress... and it sounds like we'll be getting the braces off around the sam...

Viola, I don't know... it may have something to do with your age. I had a consultation with a dentist who did orthodontics (not an orthodontist), and he wanted to do things differently. He wanted to put in an expander on my bottom jaw, and not remove any teeth, or give me surgery. I chose to have th...

Ok, It's been a really long time since i updated my brace story. I hadn't been able to log onto this site till about a month ago. I had my BSSO lower jaw advancement surgery on April 29th, and i'm really happy that i did. My orthodontist is very happy with the way that things are fitting together. I...

It was the only option I was given by my orthodontist. I could have had just straight teeth, but with the same old bite (overjet and overbite), so I decided to do the surgery, because the reason I got braces was because I was having bad headaches, grinding, chipped teeth etc.. The surgery actually w...

I'm ready to hand over my membership too! And thanks to my surgery I no longer have any overbite/overjet! i finally feel like I look normal. I think they moved my jaw forward about 7-8mm. My two front teeth used to come out like bunny teeth...so glad that that's gone! i can't wait to see my new smil...

I'm glad that you posted this thread because i was wondering the same thing. I am a month post surgery and i still have that thick feeling in my cheeks/jawline, and when i look at myself i find my face looks weird, I think it's just a combination of that and the new jaw position. I guess i'm just no...

I was charged for the length of time that I would receive treatment at the new orthodontist. My old orthodontist gave me back the amount of money for the months of treatment that I did not complete with them. The difference ended up being around $800 more after I had negotiated it with them (they or...

My treatment originally cost me $5200... I had put $2500 down ( from my savings and some from vacation pay and tax refund). I was paying monthly payments over 2 years. I claimed the expense on my income taxes and got a pretty good refund the next year, so I used the refund to pay more onto the brace...

My orthodontist said he would recountour my teeth after the braces are removed to make them look more even, but since I have some corners that are broken down he said I would need to get some bonding done at the dentist if I wanted that fixed.
