Re: SARPE Surgery

Hi My son is having SARPE next month. He is 19, but I'm much more worried about it than he is. I am finding it very helpful to read about other people's experiences, some good and some more difficult. He is having a brace fitted ten days before the SARPE and then is supposed to have double jaw surg...

SARPE Expansion rate

Hello,

I’m curious about your experience with your expander. How many days post op did you begin expanding? How many turns did you do per day?

I started turning day 4, and I’ve been doing 4 turns (1mm) per day for 6 days now. Things feel really tight!

Thank you!

Re: SARPE Jaw Surgery and braces at 41 years old

Thank you for the reply! I’m glad you’re doing well. I’ve been managing the anxiety much better once I stopped looking for things on the internet to scare me! I just had nasal surgery on Monday to improve my breathing. Septoplasty, turbinate reduction, and a fix for nasal valve collapse! I think it’...

Re: Pre-Jaw surgery anxiety! SARPE, then Le Fort I

Wow! Thanks for explaining that. I did ask my oral surgeon about that. He said that I would not need that procedure because I don’t have a gummy smile. If anything I would benefit from moving my palate down, but that might include a lower jaw adjustment. I did ask him about the Pterygoid plates and ...

Re: SARPE Surgery

For any of you who’ve had SARPE, did the surgeon make a break at the Pterygoid junction? If so, was your procedure done in a hospital or outpatient clinic? Thank you!

Re: Pre-Jaw surgery anxiety! SARPE, then Le Fort I

Thank you for your thoughts. What exactly is impaction? I can only find info on impacted teeth when I google it. And why do you think age increases the risk? The orthodontist thinks I’ll need the Le Fort I for a slight rotation to correct for crossbite, and possibly come forward a millimeter or two....

Pre-Jaw surgery anxiety! SARPE, then Le Fort I

Hello, I’ve been wanting fix my teeth since I was about 16 years old. Now at 41 years old I’m finally in a place where I can afford the braces and the one, but possibly two, surgeries required. SAPRE first, then braces, then Le Fort I to correct cross bite if necessary in the final stage. I’m schedu...
