Spacer stuck for >10 months

I just pulled an old spacer from way up inside my gum, wedged between two banded molars. It's been sore and bleeding for a while, but I couldn't find anything in there. I am good about flossing and brushing, but this would bleed every time. I just went to the dentist for a cleaning this week, and al...

I use a water flosser exclusively. Highly recommended.

Re: Braces at 39

I had the same issue when I started out, and I realized it's staining. Don't panic! But definitely do not be afraid to ask your orthodontist anything that is on your mind, that's their job to help you! I promise you are not going to make them feel bad. Use your voice and ask for what you want! I got...

Re: Traditional braces at 28

How do they feel? I like all the colors! You look good with them.
I just get black or navy because I'm boring.

Como se sienten? Me gustan todos los colores! Te ves bien con ellos.
Me pongo negro o azul marino porque soy aburrida. He olvidado casi todo mi espanol. :D

Re: Hello! Braces in mid to late fifties

I’m so happy for you! I can already see a ton of progress! And I’m glad you went with the traditional braces- I think that is a great choice. I avoided smiling or having my picture taken for years. So nice to have confidence and to stop hiding! Thank you! I am pretty happy with it all so far, even ...

Re: Heading back to the ortho--more than 3 months later

I think my molars are starting to rotate, too.
I still haven't been able to go in for an adjustment since Feb, but my other teeth are still continuing to shift in a good way.

Re: Hello! Braces in mid to late fifties

I see now that I am unable to view anyone else's photos, so maybe nobody can see mine. Is that true?

Re: Hello! Braces in mid to late fifties

Even with the delays in treatment due to COVID-19, I am so happy so far with this. I am more confident already, and it just feels better. I am thrilled. It's impressive how fast things are moving. I still have a very long way to go, including major surgery, but I am not afraid to smile anymore. http...

Re: New to braces - questions about bite!

Hello! I also have braces due to my teeth getting all messed up because of Smile Direct aligners. It's normal for things to not feel quite right from time to time during your adjustments. At my last one, I couldn't close my mouth without biting right into both cheeks for a week or so. Every new adju...

Re: Worthwhile to get braces at 38?

That's not really a judgment I can make, that's between you and your ortho. What is your hesitation? Having braces is not a big deal, I don't mind them. They take a bit of getting used to.

It is absolutely worth it. In a couple of years, you will be a couple years older, braces or not.

Re: Hello! Braces in mid to late fifties

Here is my before photo, the day I got my braces on. As you can see, I have quite of correction to be done. I am so excited that my orthodontist and oral surgeon say they can fix me, I have gone through a lot of orthodontists who were afraid to take me on. It's honestly going to change my life, and ...

Re: Hello! Braces in mid to late fifties

Thanks, all. I'm about 5 weeks in, and so far it's been fine. I am having some "leveling" devices put on in about 2 weeks, I suspect that's where the fun will really begin. I will spend about 9 or 10 months with an ever-worsening bite since I have a class II malocclusion and will have surgery to fix...

Re: Post Op from Surgery done Jan 28th 2020

I have not had my surgery yet, so I can't help with suggestions, but I wanted to say this is fantastic to read. Sounds like you're doing really well, and I appreciate the detailed information about how you're doing post-op. Thank you for sharing.
