Re: Getting braces for the second time at 25

I was given the choice on Tuesday between metal and ceramic, my Ortho uses Damon brackets and at a glance the metal ones are smaller and a little less bulky. This was confirmed by the tech I spoke to who had ceramic on top and metal on the bottom. Hope that sort of helps. I've had my upper braces fo...

It begins. Treatment at 28

Well I've done it. Upper arch was bonded yesterday afternoon, things are bumpy and tender. I initially said I was willing to consider the surgical route, however after getting records done I was presented with two options, surgical or not. Apparently I've got space to spare and they can get an adequ...

Re: Speed braces

Thanks this is super helpful. They appear to be the only office that uses them so so I didn't really have a good point of comparison. The cost is basically the same here, a few hundred bucks either way, so far she seems to be the most flexible when it comes to exploring different options for me.

And I recognize that, but I also know that this doesn't feel the same issue I had the first time around so I'd like to sort that out too, is there a reason my teeth did what they did a half decade later.

Re: Speed braces

I think you might be confusing speed braces and fast braces.

Re: Orthodontist suggests surgery, any advise would be appreciated.

Update, I've lined up one more consult. I'm not always the most patient person and I'm trying to resist the urge to just get this show in the road so to speak. We'll see what the Orthodontist at this third clinic says.

I'm getting my old records from last time and hopefully that'll give us a bigger picture.

Re: Orthodontist suggests surgery, any advise would be appreciated.

I've been told that my bite is basically right on the cusp. There are some underlying skeletal issues but my lower teeth are also just too far back. The question is if I relapsed after the first round of treatment were mistakes made or is surgery the only viable avenue. I feel like there's a lot of ...

Re: Orthodontist suggests surgery, any advise would be appreciated.

That's the big thing I'm concerned about, they seem to understate the risks and I don't really like the idea of losing any sensation in my lower jaw in order to achieve someone else's definition of cosmetic perfection. If these morbidities were things I had only read about that would be one thing bu...

Re: Speed braces

I'll take a peek. I want to make sure that it's not some sort of trendy brand that doesn't actually make much of a difference.

Speed braces

Speed braces, anyone had them? Know anything about them? Have opinions about them? I haven't been able to glean much from their website.

Re: Moving molars forward

Your situation with your bite sounds very similar to mine, I had second consultation today, and this orthodontist mentioned that my lower arch is a fair bit narrower than my upper. The plan is to get my old records if I can (the orthodontist who did the work is dead and someone else has taken over t...

For sure, navigating this as the one holding the wallet has made me a little gun-shy I really want to get things right this time around because clearly it wasn't the first time.
