Oh Meryten, I took it post op for pain with no issues either. It was just pre-op that I was recommended not to take it.

Holy Guacamole! You have been having some serious dental work done! You are one tough cookie! I hate sitting in the dentist's chair getting crowns done. Can't imagine three at a time...OUch! Even with the temps your smile looks great though! and that is awesome that you are no longer snoring or havi...

Yes it can also cause bruising. If you want to see first hand how much difference it can make check out my blog. Go to March 2006 and look at my SARPE recovery pics. I looked like I got mugged! I had no idea I was not supposed to use Advil and even took some before I went. Then check out May-June 07...

Hey Helen,
You really are looking terrific! How's your sleep now? Since you are probably pretty well healed now, are you sleeping now? Did it work?

Maybe I didn't explain this very well. With the SARPE it is not so much about the palatal suture being separated (I mean obviously that has to be fractured in order for there to be expansion.) The difference with the Lefort 1 , 2 piece verses the SARPE is that with the Lefort the outside connections...

I'm one year and almost 16 months post op. I had SARPE, then 15 months later had upper, lower, and genio. I have gotten most of my feeling back in my gums, chin etc. But I still have a few patchy spots in my lower lip area. It is tingly and I can tell it is going to come back but it is slow going. I...

They are not the same. Some doctors when they do the SARPE perform a Lefort 1 (2 piece) what this means is that they completely release the bone connections on each side. When just a SARPE is done, the bones are down fractured on each side but not completely broken/released. It is basically a modifi...

Actually almost a year for me. We tried a bit before then, but my jaw would get really sore and hurt so bad it didn't last long and was just more of a tease. I'm at 15 months now and things are pretty much back to normal. I can feel things and my jaw can hold out. I have had to change my technique a...

In terms of being able to go I would say yes, however, you will still be significantly swollen. By that I mean, not a much as post surgery, but still will have several months of healing and swelling reductions. I personally did not think I looked that bad/different at 5 weeks, however, when I compar...

Hey Mimmy, I had both, as well as a genioplasty. I was only planning on BSSO, but about a month before surgery the doctor told me he was going to need to do both. I was pretty freaked out, but have been very happy with my results. You can check out my blog if you want to see more. Good luck! Brandy

Yep...the advancements are much larger though, typically starting at about 10mm on the maxilla. Dr Casey Lee is world reknown and very good! I have three friends who have had surgery done by him, as he also does regular orthognathic surgery, and all have been very pleased with their results. He does...

I agree with what you are saying Arvensis. I totally believe research is important, and that their are many other doctors out there that are amazing. I was under the understanding that Rosy had researched the doctors in her area and that Dr Arnett was their top pic from the 2 or 3 they had looked in...

Honestly, I have to agree with Rosy on this one. If it was my son having surgery or even myself for that matter, I would want the best of the best working on me (if that was an option.) I chose my surgeon because he has been doing this surgery for over 30 years. He's done approximately 30 a year for...

I would talk with the doctor seriously about the chin advancement. I don't know too much about the cheek stuff so I can't really comment on it, but I know for me, I was unsure of getting it done. I spoke with my surgeon about it and asked him, if it was your daughter, would you recommend it, or woul...
