Re: Ceramic vs Metal - Discolored teeth appearance

I have metal braces but they are the rhodium plated ones. I have not seen any other posts with someone who has them, but they are smaller and much less shiny than the traditional metal braces. I have a small mouth and small teeth so they are much more comfortable than traditional would be. The other...

Re: Can't Chew At All!

It will get easier. I am 66 and first time in braces (7weeks in). The bite blockers (molar build ups) are a bit of a challenge at first. I keep losing them. About every 3 weeks I am having a new one put on. The last one on the left covers the entire tooth surface and has been much easier to eat with...

Re: Molar Rotation

I have a premolar and the tooth next to it that have tilted so that they are almost laying on their side. I too had bone loss and the orthodontist would not even touch my teeth until I went and had a consult with the periodontist. I ended up having my wire and brackets on the top, brackets only on t...

Re: Another Brace Face Newb!

Welcome to the club. I am 66 and first time around with the braces. All metal. Just having eating issues at this point - 5 days into this journey and my molar buildups to keep my bite open have popped off which has made things very interesting. Had to happen on a weekend when I work 13 hours each da...

Re: New Member bound for Braces at 66

Day after my surgery and I have had zero pain which is amazing to me. A bit of swelling in my face but no bruising considering how much work he had to do. Got my bottom wire on today and that hasn't caused any pain either. I was told not to eat or drink anything hot for 24 hours after surgery and no...

Re: New Member bound for Braces at 66

I finally got my brackets on Dec. 11. Got both upper and lower brackets on and archwire on top only. Also have molar buildups to open up my bite due to overjet and crossbite. Today, Dec 12, I had WilckoDontics surgery on my 2 tipped over teeth. This is where they make cuts and holes in the bone arou...

Re: Poll: At What Age Did You Get Your Braces?

I am glad I am not the only one at 66 to be getting braces. I was given the choice as to brace or not. Ortho definitely went over the negatives and positives and said it was up to me if I wanted to go through the stuff at my age. Since I am having chewing issues my Husband and I decided I should go ...

Re: Regrets?

I posted above about being 66 and having an orthodontist appointment. Well I had it on Tuesday and the Ortho was very nice and told me everything about my teeth and told me that braces were up to me. My tipped teeth will require periodontal surgery first prior to the braces. I will need bite turbos ...

Re: Regrets?

I am 66 and looking forward to my first Orthodontist evaluation at the end of this month. I don't have really bad teeth, just 2 on the lower left that have "fallen over" and really affect my bite and beginning to get some TMJ. Even though there are horror stories out there about the pain a...

Latex Allergy

I posted about me being 66 and expecting braces in the near future but reading about "elastics" and ties, I am wondering if there are latex free versions available. I am tending to shy away from even getting Invisilign as I have read about allergies to them and at work we handle some produ...

Re: New Member bound for Braces at 66

Thanks for all the replies. Glad to know headgear is for younger people and that the teeth move in their own time but slowly at this age. The tilted teeth came on slowly. I remember them starting to be out of place probably 20 years ago and my Brother-In-Law who we used as our long distance dentist ...

Re: New Member bound for Braces at 66

Thank you for your support. I think I can handle the elastics but if they tell me I need to wear any headgear I will probably tell them where they can stick it.

New Member bound for Braces at 66

Hi, I just got referred to an Orthodontist by my dentist. I have 2 teeth (21,22) which are laying on their side so that the chewing surface is against my tounge. They are really annoying as I chew weird on that side and also have an crossbite. Unfortunately my appointment is not until the end of Oct...
