Re: June/ july 2018 surgery buddies
I hope you do get the splint off soon - I found moving and talking much easier with it off. It's still not the same because of the numbness in lower lip and stiffness in jaw. Did they suggest you to use warm compress on jaw with stretching? I am not able to open enough for orthodontics visit for ret...

Re: June/ july 2018 surgery buddies
What is exposed plate like? It's poking through the cheek?? Has anyone had sharp pains on the back of the jawbone? Not in the joint, this is more like right in front of the gonial angle. Intermittent, seems to get triggered by using the jaw (smiling, swallowing, etc). Think I hurt a muscle b...

Re: June/ july 2018 surgery buddies
I was another June 20 surgery. BSSO only, never heard the final results but plan was 8 mm advancement, 2mm left and 2mm up (minor crossbite and open bite). Just past 5 weeks now. Sensation is altered but returning in lower lip. Chin is starting to feel not quite fully numb... But still 95% numb. Dea...

Re: I hate my orthodontist!! Is it normal for answers to always change? Plz help need advice
Hi - my experience is the orthodontist can't give a really exact time frame. My surgery ended up being about as long as she initially said (9 months after treatment start) even though at 3 months the teeth were looking really good. Turns out I she left buffer time because it's normal to run into a t...

Re: Bite is worse after surgery
I guess I am in a similar boat, seeing bite issues that surgeon says orthodontist will fix and also concerned my face is asymmetrical and it's not swelling.
No advice here but just empathy - trying to be patient while fearing there's any chance you'll need to do this again is tough.

Re: Shooting pain in my gums
Shooting pains sounds like nerves to me. That's aorund the same time frame I got shooting pains in my chin area and tooth sensitivity when brushing (and yes my lips are on fire too but that's been constant since week 2, still there at week 5 but improving). I think if you don't see increased swellin...

Left-right jaw shift post surgery
Hi all, I'm 4 weeks post of today, lower advancement only. They planned to move lower forward 8mm, left 2 mm, and up 2mm. I had an overbite, mild open bite and crossbite. I am not wired - right into a splint and heavy elastics after surgery. Midlines were aligned in the splint. Splint came off at 2 ...
