Re: Braces story - 28 years old
Congrats cbraces678...your teeth look fantastic! Curious as to which type of removable retainers you received? All the Best, Jethro Thank you!!! I am so happy to be done with braces. I am going to get a little bit of bonding done eventually, but I'm not worried about that right now. As for retainer...

Re: Braces story - 28 years old
My braces are off!!!! I was scheduled to have them off March 23, but that was cancelled due to COVID-19. I went in for an adjustment 5 days ago to correct some super minor shifting that happened during the closure, and they came off 2 days ago! I just picked up my retainers today. They are really ti...

Re: 2nd braces at age 30 - for bite and gums!
12th adjustment today - I was supposed to be getting my bottom braces off... On Monday, the orthodontist’s office emailed to say they cannot remove braces under the coronavirus threat because the process of polishing off the glue creates aerosol droplets, and they would need N95 masks and hazmat su...

Re: Post Your COVID-19 Orthodontic Stories or Concerns
I was a week away from getting my braces removed, and then everything shut down!!! Now I’m stuck in them for who knows how long, and since then I’ve had a couple teeth shift, so I know I’ll need another adjustment before they come off now. I can’t help but laugh about it really. I was SO CLOSE lol!!!

Re: Braces story - 28 years old
Another adjustment. It's been a while since I've posted. I've had a couple adjustments since then. I'm about 3 adjustments away from the end of my "estimated treatment time". I'm pretty happy with my teeth but there are a few things that I hope to have adjusted before they are taken off. I...

Re: Bruxism & what type of arch wire withstands the least breakage?
I also suffer from Bruxism (at night though), but I have to admit that I’ve never heard of or even come close to breaking a wire. I have bitten off a bracket or 2, but nothing like what you are describing and I’ve been told that my clenching is bad (it is also one of the main reasons I got braces in...

Re: Braces story - 28 years old
SO. MUCH. WORK. DONE. My adjustment was half an hour ago and I am already so sore. So much IPR, double power chains where the loops skip teeth and a new elastic configuration. I went from heavy class 2, to heavy box. I asked how much longer he thinks and since I’m supposed to have 6 months left tech...

Officially through 18 months of treatment! 6 more to go.
As of today I have had my braces 18 months. It was estimated 24 months, so I should only have 6 more to go. At my last adjustment he said “not much longer now”. We are tweaking my front teeth and my bite then I am done! I am currently wearing class 2 heavy elastics to reduce my overjet a touch more....

Re: Braces story - 28 years old
Another adjustment. Today the ortho did my whole appointment. Boy am I ever sore. I got a bend in my wire where 1 front tooth was sticking out a bit too far. Now it’s a bit too far behind actually but considering how fast it moved I’m sure it will be an easy fix lol. He smoothed out my front teeth b...

Re: Braces story - 28 years old
Adjustment. I had an adjustment today. The sticking out tooth root issue got a bit better the ortho said. He decided to change the bracket on the tooth to really torque it more. Now the premolar has a central bracket on it. I'm hoping this will be the last step to correcting this issue and then we c...

Re: Molar and pre-molar banding
Gosh! Thank you all for your replies, what a great support, and really helpful comments. I do wonder, because of the chair time involved in separating and fitting bands, whether a lot of orthodontists are reluctant to band adjacent teeth. And maybe modern brackets adhere much better anyway in most ...

Re: Molar and pre-molar banding
I think you could ask for it if you wanted to, and see if they would do it if they don’t usually. My molars are bracketed, and I clench really badly at night. I haven’t had any issues with them coming off over the last 16 months. However, I don’t have any fillings that the brackets touch.

Re: Now, with both arches on -
I had nearly the exact same experience with the bite blocks. It does get better though! You will be able to rest comfortably eventually and the teeth that hurt from the pressure will stop. I’d say it took a few days-couple weeks. Eating and everything becomes normal again. It all adjusts and then fe...

Re: can feel root of tooth
@cbraces678 oh wait i just checked out your brace story thread and i think your prominent root issue seems to mean differently from what i was thinking. Yours is the teeth appears long right? In my case, it's not that. I was thinking more of how the bone is thin like OP said I think. Not quite sure...

Re: Braces story - 28 years old
I have not posted in quite a while! Adjustment day. Things are pretty unexciting over here. It's been about 14.5 months in braces. My ortho is working on retorquing a tooth that's root is sticking out further than the rest as I posted above. The repositioned bracket on that tooth is FINALLY back in ...
