There’s no reason why it couldn’t be corrected.

Re: Can't Chew At All!
I feel for you. It’s bad at first, but believe me you get used to it after a few weeks. There are a lot of pitfalls to overcome in the first couple of months, and eating is one of them. I eat pretty much anything now. That ‘material’ you speak of are ‘bite blocks’ or ‘build-ups’ used to help create ...

Re: ArchWired Re-Design, Opinions Wanted!
Like Tim, let me think about it as well. I am a software developer and spent a decade or so developing websites before moving into apps. I haven’t had Wordpress experience though. Is it purely functional and UX behaviour you are asking about? I gather you are not looking for design input, as you’ll ...

Re: Mold made for my teeth but no feedback?
You need to call the orthodontist and get some concrete answers, either by speaking directly by phone or by asking to arrange another appointment to explain what’s happening.

Re: How did you manage to work with a splint in for 5 weeks?
I’m in lingual braces so can relate to the issues with speech problems. When I first got them on I cycled home from the orthodontist and practiced speaking when no one was near... I could barely pronounce a single word. You do adjust to changes in your mouth over time, but it can take time and needs...

Hi - probably best just to see your dentist again and get them to clarify it for you.

Re: Options for my teeth / Good orthodontist in London?
I can’t recommend any orthodontists in London, but you should be spoilt for choice there. I’m in Berkshire and the second orthodontist I saw charged £200 for the initial consultation (which would be taken off the overall fee). The consultation lasted over 2 hours and I feel it was good value. I too ...

I’ve got to say I’m envious. I’m fed up wearing braces and can’t wait for that final appointment.

Hi - your story reads much the same as mine, except that I’m a year into treatment. The bite build ups you get used to. My orthodontist didn’t even forewarn me about them, and it came as quite a shock that I couldn’t chew properly. Nowadays there is very little food I avoid. It just takes time getti...

Re: Rubber bands at 25
Do you mean overjet? The YouTube video is correcting an overjet protrusion. I’m currently having the same treatment, and am considerably older than you. The only issue age plays is that we will need to wear a retainer after treatment, whereas a younger person would not as their bones are still malle...

Re: Recovery story and questions
I’m just in regular braces so can’t offer you any practical advice, but just wanted to say that you posted an interesting, eye-opening read. By the sound of it the pain is slowly reducing for you, so hopefully in time it will get even better! I’m sure the outcome will be worth all the pain.

From the packs I’ve seen tension of 2.5 oz is light and 3.5 oz medium. 4.5 and above may be considered heavy.

@Speck, the first burger is the worst. I had to resort to using a knife and fork the first time. What’s odd is that after a while nothing is that much hassle anymore.

Re: bed time elastics
He he, normally people don’t want to wear them during the day because they are visible, but don’t mind wearing them at night! How are they uncomfortable? Personally I would persevere. You’ll risk puttting yourself back by one week, and possibly more if your teeth shift back a bit. You may also suffe...
