Thanks so much for sharing your information. I am hoping to have my hardware removed - I seem to be having a reaction to it - swelling and pressure....not fun!!! I have a lot of screws and I think 2 plates, but they are not high.... so, hopefully it wont be so difficult.....

Did you do the procedure under general anesthesia? And how many screws and plates were removed? I am in a similar position -- almost 2 years since BiMax.

Nochokiin - have you discussed this with your doctor? Have you asked him to evaluate you for Scar Tissue??

I had a problem with scar tissue.

I would like to get hardware removal done - but it's a 5 hour surgery for me.... so I am told, and I am not able to do that right now.....

I would go for hardware removal. Do you know how many plates and screws you have? I have heard the longer you wait to do the removal, the harder it can be because your bone grows around the hardware. But, I am not sure about that ... However, have you noticed any facial sagging since your procedure?...

Hi there. The steroid that was used is called Kenalog. I think the removal of hardware has improved the situation. I would like to ask you if you have noticed that your midface was sagging at all. My face is apparently sagging... :( And I am visiting my jaw doctor's associate tomorrow. I am PETRIFIED.

Also, my hardware removal was not significant enough to warrant stabilization or braces. I did not have braces in, though, I am finishing up Invisalign on my bottom teeth.

However, I have noticed that I need to stretch like for about 12 minutes to keep it from retracting soon. ...
