Good luck and welcome to the world of braces. You will be amazed and it will be cool to see the progress. I took photos after every adjustment. I had a mess and now I think I have some really nice teeth, not that I'm vain, just proud. Again, good luck and welcome!

I finally finsihed up with my ortho here. The final verdict is retainers at night, permament retianer on the bottom for about 10 years. He gave me my original impressions which was really cool, I forgot how screwed up my teeth were. He gave me 5 Essix retainers for the top and I still have my Hawley...

No problems here. My tounge wanted to fight with it at first, but no lisp. Not even with my Hawley in.

Congrats on debracing, your teeth look great. Be patient, you'll learn how to speak with that Hawley. My ortho gave me Hawley and Essix. Hawley at night and Essix during the day. Today, he put a permament retainer on the bottom, so now I only have to deal with the tops.

I have Essix and Hawleys for the top. Essix during the day, Hawleys at night and bonded on the bottom.

I concur with jennielee81, I have Hawley's and Essix. Essix during the day, Hawley's at night. I finally got a permament retainer on the bottom and so far I like it. A little work to clean around, but no harder than braces, and again it's only six teeth.

I'm finally naked! Went in at 9:30 and was out by 12:30. Everything was removed and cleaned. 2 sets of impressions taken and I walked out with temporary essix retainers.
