Time until you feel normal

It's been 3 months and 3 weeks since my double jaw surgery. I would say there is still some swelling left. Especially in the left side of my face. It's noticeable when I take photos or if I you look long enough. Also I still feel some "thigtness" in my chin. I don't how to better express i...

Re: Poll: If you had BSSO, time until CHIN felt NORMAL

I'm currently at 8 weeks post op and I can feel like about 85-90% in the right side of my chin, but the left side is like 30% I would say. My lip has less felling than the chin, and again much more in the right side. I'm really hoping I will regain full felling. My surgeon said it takes up to a year...

Re: Nerves and regaining feeling

I'm also 7 weeks out and have had exactly the same experience. The left side of my face has been slightly more swollen than the right for much of my recovery, and the right side of my chin started to gain sensation before the left (probably important to note that I also had a sliding genioplasty). ...

Re: Nerves and regaining feeling

Hello Mm12345, Congrats that you got feeling on right side of your chin at 7 weeks mark! I think that's a good progress. I am also at 7 weeks mark post-OP. Contrary to your case, I regained feeling only on left side of the chin and lip. Last couple of days, I am getting burning sensation on right s...

Nerves and regaining feeling

I've noticed that I had regained much more feeling in the right side of my chin and lip, and my left side is still almost numb but has some light feeling. Left side of my face was much more swollen during the whole time. I'm now 7 weeks post op. Does this mean I won't regain feeling in my left side?...

Also I used a baby brush from the second day for brushing teeth. It was uncomftorable in the beginning but I managed somehow.

Re: June/ july 2018 surgery buddies

I had the surgery on May 10th, and wore bands for 3 weeks and removed them while eating. At the beginning is so hard to open your mouth but don't worry. Everyday you can open a bit more. You'll see a big improvement in 2-3 weeks.

Re: June/ july 2018 surgery buddies

Mm12345, I was an outpatient because i did it privately. You can read more about it in my other thread. After the surgery, I stayed for about 3 hours before I went home. It was so good to come home, but it was scary for my boyfriend because I passed out 2 times the first night when I went to the ba...

Re: June/ july 2018 surgery buddies

Does anybody know on what does it depend if you wear a splint or not? I know my surgeon made a splint prior to the surgery but didn't require from me to wear it after the op. From my understanding, most cases will require a splint, especially if you get a segmental Le Fort where they split your upp...

Re: June/ july 2018 surgery buddies

1st day and night after the surgery I didn't feel any pain but it was just really uncomftorable because I had tubes or drains (I don't know really what it is called in English haha) in my mouth. I couldn't sleep that night. 2nd day is really better, they removed the drains, them my swelling began gr...
