Re: April 18 Surgery Buddies...

Just got my splint removed at 7 weeks mark. After removing splint, doctor asked how does it feel and I was talking like somebody who just got all of the teeth removed. There was ssshh.. in every word. It feels so good that I can see my upper front teeth again. At lunch, while chewing for the f...

Re: Nerves and regaining feeling

Hello Mm12345, Congrats that you got feeling on right side of your chin at 7 weeks mark! I think that's a good progress. I am also at 7 weeks mark post-OP. Contrary to your case, I regained feeling only on left side of the chin and lip. Last couple of days, I am getting burning sensation on right si...

Re: Unbearable tightness in chin

I am 6 weeks post OP and had my lower jaw moved forward by 1cm. It feels super tight in the chin area ever since I got back sensation. I hope it will become more flexible over time.

Re: April 18 Surgery Buddies...

Punakmouth, could you please share links from where you bought arnica gel, C010, omega, B12, etc., to reduce swelling? If they worked for you, they might work for me too. I am 5 weeks post-OP and still have residual swelling. I saw my Surgeon yesterday and he said it takes several months for swellin...

Re: Time off for Orthognathic Surgery

I was told that it would take at least 2 weeks before I could start working again. But after 2 weeks, I was nowhere near prepared, mentally and physically. Fortunately, my manager allowed me to work from home for next 2 weeks. Starting week 5, I joined office. Everybody recovers at different pace. L...

Re: Pulsating ear pain post op (double jaw surgery) after laying down

If your doctor said that it's expected then there is nothing to worry about. Since you are at 4 weeks post OP mark, I'm sure that you are at your full energy level and your muscles will re-adjust quicker than you know it.

Re: Pulsating ear pain post op (double jaw surgery) after laying down

Hello Ethel973, I am sorry that you have to go through this pain! I had similar issue and it was fixed as soon as my surgeon removed those tight rubber bands. Although,I am surprised you got swollen face again. I would suggest that you should show to your doctor/surgeon as this could be infection. I...

Re: Poll: If you had BSSO, time until CHIN felt NORMAL

Snapdresser: Wow! That is really scary!! On similar note, my both lips sensation returned at start of week 3. My surgeon said that it was way sooner than he expected. Although, it had downside. Since, sensation returned so early, all those hooks piercing (at least thats what I felt) into my lips whe...

Re: Poll: If you had BSSO, time until CHIN felt NORMAL

Punakmouth: I am at 3 weeks post op and still has numbness in my chin. I have read numerous posts online and all of them say that on an average it takes 40 - 90 days before complete feeling returns in the chin. For you, nothing to worry about! I have also heard from experiences on youtube that some ...

I would say you please contact your doctor. There shouldn't be any bleeding from gums at this point.

Re: Pulsating ear pain post op (double jaw surgery) after laying down

Good news!! Got rid of ear pain. Culprit were tight rubber bands. After two weeks mark, doctor replaced tight rubber bands with loose ones. I am supposed to take them out during meal and put them back afterwards. I slept straight 8:30 hours after two weeks of no sleep. I think today is the happiest ...

[quote=PierreDeFermat post_id=502402 time=1527478276 user_id=31191] Did your doctor say to alternate between the Norco (hydrocodone/acetaminophen) and ibuprofen? For the first 10 days or so I was alternating the medication so that I was taking something every two hours (obviously that depends on you...

Pulsating ear pain post op (double jaw surgery) after laying down

Greetings! I had double jaw surgery 2 weeks before (14th May 2018) and pain in the jaw area has gone down significantly after that. Although, since day 3 post OP, I am having pulsating sharp ear pain on left side, as soon as I lay down to sleep. If I seat up straight, it goes away instantly. In shor...
