Re: April 18 Surgery Buddies...
In my last appointment my Ortho said, we need to start thinking about getting you debonded soon. Or, we can remove one more tooth up top and you'll have 6-8 more months of treatment but your bite "should" be perfect then. I just couldn't mentally face another surgery on my face. Especially...

Re: Gap size after SARPE
Oh my SARPE was in 2016. Recovery for that went pretty well. S Hi MoJo, Out of curiosity, how are you progressing? I had my SARPE last week and today is my second day turning. Did you have any discomfort or pressure after your turns? Also, swelling has been killer... as well as eating anything soft....

Re: Gap size after SARPE
Mine was about the width of an old school pencil. I don't remember the mm measurement.

Oh no Rabbit! That's the worst. Hopefully it goes quickly for you. I caught something a few weeks ago but it only lasted a few days. Feel better soon!

Re: Getting braces before seeing a jaw surgeon
Depending on how much your teeth need to move first jaw surgery could be pretty far into your braces treatment. But I did meet with my surgeon before braces went on just so that both the orthodontist and the surgeon were on the same page as far as what treatment would be necessary.

Re: April 18 Surgery Buddies...
MoJo2685, do your front teeth do not bite down on each other in occlusion? Ikn- My top teeth are just in front of my bottom now. The top picture looks like they are way further back I think because I was laughing. The elastics are because pre-surgery/braces I tended to clench my teeth so they are m...

Re: Sarpe surgery booked need advice on aftercare
First there is a whole subthread for Oral Surgery on here that is full of useful advice. But for SARPE aftercare I would say, be sure to have so many soup and smoothie recipes ready. The liquid diet is killer. Buy a waterpik if you don't already have one. Your device is going to be a massive trap fo...

Re: April 18 Surgery Buddies...
Oh the goofy faces made in the name of stretching. Lol thank God I don't live in a reality TV house with cameras everywhere. The braces are a struggle but seeing the light at the end of the tunnel helps so much. I went to the ortho today and mentioned that my bite seems more connected on the right t...

Re: April 18 Surgery Buddies...
Guys I'm slowly trying to add mild body weight exercises in addition to my run. Made it to 12 whole girl push-ups before collapsing. Squats are good. But pushups. Man, I thought I hated them before.... Why do they have to be so good for you?

Re: surgery tomorrow
Good luck! And I second the suggestion to join the surgery buddies thread for June/July. I had my surgery in April and our little group has been mega therapy. At a certain point you will feel like your friends and family are sick of hearing about it. But people who are going through all the same fee...

Re: Time off for Orthognathic Surgery
It depends on exactly what surgery you have and also how you heal. I had bsso on my lower jaw and rhinoplasty. I was out for 4 weeks because I was very lucky to be allowed that. I may have been able to go back physically at 3 weeks but would have just been very tired by the end of the day. As a musi...

Re: April 18 Surgery Buddies...
Braces should be off early fall. I can't wait! With the jaw movement I feel like they take up way to much space. It's funny that lifting is easier for you. Maybe it's due to my nose more than my jaw but any body weight/ lifting things feel awful. Yesterday I actually hit 1 mile straight running for ...

Re: April 18 Surgery Buddies...
Certainly helps that I feel 1000x better than I did pre-surgery, and that I've had you all to help ease my anxieties throughout the whole process. Very grateful for you guys! Wow you look great! I can't believe how far we have all come. It seems both like a million years ago and also yesterday that...

Re: April 18 Surgery Buddies...
N2Deep interesting. I'm about the same, I was realizing that my right side all connects, but on my left it's just my molars that connect. The premolars have a little gap. I did have two teeth removed on the bottom and the left is the side that still had a tiny baby gap pre-surgery. It's just strange...
