I much prefer the wires because they don't stain and are coated with something similar to teflon. The wires aren't in contact with my teeth, they fit in the same place as the rubber ligatures do. Here is a picture of my ceramic top braces with the wire teflon ties. I also originally had rubber band ligatures which stained quickly from coffee.

Congratulations! I got my brackets and arch wires on three days after you got your arch wire. We are in this journey together for the next 18 months!!

I just looked up self-ligating, pretty nice concept! A 12 month sentence sounds wonderful.
