Re: Can a root canal tooth still feel sore from braces adjustment?

Yes, let’s do keep each other updated! Your description of the sensitivity is pretty accurate; it’s some sort of a hollow ache/ pain. And mine only feels that way when pressure is applied perpendicular to the tooth from the outside, i.e when brushing, and not from any other angles. I just had my adj...

Re: Can a root canal tooth still feel sore from braces adjustment?

I also had a root canal done, and a bracket re-placed on that tooth (with no change in wire) a month later during adjustment. That tooth was sensitive whenever I brushed my teeth, but no sensitivity to hot or cold food, or pressure. The sensitivity came and went, until I saw my orthodontist for the ...

Re: Tiny gap opening up between central incisors

I've only been braced for 6 months, so still a newbie, but I've got a tooth that moved, within 3 weeks, into the space that was created for it. The gap that you mentioned doesn't seem too obvious, so I think it should close in less than 3 months? Also, just wanted to let you know that you've got rea...

Re: How to get fibre

Try plums, prunes, peaches, kiwis, and berries; cut them into bite sizes and they’re usually soft enough to be mashed with the tongue (they worked great when my toddler had constipation!) Chia seeds or flaxseeds added to veggie/ fruit smoothies is also an option. Whole grain breads and baked sweet p...

Re: Is it okay to get my regular dentist to cut/ shave down excess wire that’s shredding my cheeks?

Thanks for the replies! @angeamber I get what you mean! @ djspeece Yup, it’s the wire that’s protruding from the last bracket. I called my clinic this morning and they managed to squeeze me in for an appointment with my orthodontist in the afternoon. I’d also checked with my orthodontist, and she sa...

Is it okay to get my regular dentist to cut/ shave down excess wire that’s shredding my cheeks?

Or should I schedule an appointment with my orthodontist to be safe?

Edit: I’ll be able to get an appointment with my regular dentist as soon as the next day, but it’s gonna be tough getting an appointment with my orthodontist on a short notice.

Re: How long until your teeth looked relatively straight?

1. I'd always wanted to straighten my overcrowded teeth my whole life but there was always something else that the money could be used for. Opportunity came when a cracked tooth that required a root canal may end up getting extracted; got that tooth extracted and got braced! 2. About 2-3 months for ...

Re: Root canal treatment and braces

I totally know what you mean about not googling. I was blissfully unaware of possible changes in facial structure as a result of tooth/ teeth extraction until this forum, and then I googled and freaked myself out even more (have had 3 teeth extracted!). I’ve got no temperature sensitivity so far, fo...

Re: Root canal treatment and braces

A root canaled tooth is a dead tooth, so you should not feel any sensitivity or pain with it. That was why when I first had my braces on, and the tooth with the rct done wouldn't stop hurting and was even sensitive to hot/ cold foods, I was referred to an endodontist who discovered the reinfection....

Root canal treatment and braces

Hi all, I’ve had a root canal treatment done, while with braces (it was a reinfection so it’s the second rct on that tooth), two months ago. The tooth was left alone in the last two months, and the bracket and wire were placed on again yesterday, done together with the usual monthly tightening. I’ve...

Re: Pain brushing after Braces applied.

Hi! I think the pain might be a result of the pressure from brushing your teeth after just getting your braces applied, rather than the surface of the tooth becoming sensitive (I'm not sure if that possible?). And it'll be there for while (for me, it's a couple of days up to a week or so), and then ...

Re: Pain in one tooth when biting down - help!

Everything that djspeece wrote! I’ve got that one extra sensitive premolar that hurts even with slight pressure and is also shaky. The pain and shakiness are usually more pronounced right after an adjustment, up till almost two weeks, and then it gets better (and then it’s time for the next adjustme...

Re: Braces + Getting Pregnant

@djspeece Thank you! I did do a search on this forum and got similar results, but the posts are mostly from years ago, so I thought to ask to see if there are any new experiences or insights. Appreciate your help! @VMC296 You feel like you might just get braces? or try for a baby? or do both? :D I'd...

Braces + Getting Pregnant

I'm three months into my braces, and am planning to try for a second baby. Planning because my first pregnancy wasn't a walk in the park so I'm kinda worried, but my biological is ticking so I kinda don't want to wait till I'm done with my braces before trying for a baby. Anyone out there who are pr...

Re: Plaque, tartar and brown stains

Yea, it’s kinda crappy that the stains cannot be removed. I’m hoping they won’t be as obvious when my teeth straightens out, and that is gonna take some time. Appreciate your help!
