Re: Molars arn’t touching 4minths post op

I’m also about 4 months post op and my molars don’t touch. I had an open bite before and now it’s the opposite. The surgeon said the fairly large space in my molars when I bite down should be easy to close and the ortho doesn’t seem worried about it but it hasn’t been improved yet at all. Really suc...

Re: Recovering from jaw surgery alone? Advice?

Agreed, I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it alone mostly cause of the risk if something goes wrong. Maybe have someone on standby or hire a nurse for the first day? I think otherwise if things went well then recovering alone might be doable. It is nice to have someone keeping track of your med sche...

Re: June/ july 2018 surgery buddies

4 weeks post op and just got the ok to start chewing again, hamburgers, stuff like that. I'm definitely nervous but excited to start. Did you all cut everything into little pieces before starting to chew again? I kind of feel like a kid learning to eat properly all over again. I just started chewin...

Re: June/ july 2018 surgery buddies

Yes the ear pain is normal. Are you lying down on your ear by any chance? Good to know. No, I just lay flat on my back but maybe that changes the way I rest my jaw and causes the pain? IDK. The surgeon said the bands on my molars are causing the pain and to just take them out at night if it's sever...

Re: June/ july 2018 surgery buddies

Has anyone experienced pain in their ears after surgery? I'm about 4 weeks out and now when I lay down my right ear starts hurting really badly after about 30 minutes. I'm not getting much sleep because of it.

Re: June/ july 2018 surgery buddies

Well first day was the easiest day, it's been pretty bad since. Literally no appetite, have dropped 10lbs in 4 days now, swelling and pain are terrible. Also my swelling feels very cold, if that makes sense. Not from icing it, like it just feels cold. Trying to force myself to eat meals through a s...

Re: June/ july 2018 surgery buddies

If you're getting intense pain in your chin, it's a good sign because it means feeling in your chin is trying to come back and the nerves are trying to reconnect. Ah ok good to know! Yesterday I was so miserable from it and I scared myself into thinking it could be the new normal. Today I still hav...

Re: June/ july 2018 surgery buddies

Are any of ya'll feeling pain in your chin? My chin is really numb (like 5-15% sensation depending on what I touch) but I get like an intense cold feeling in my chin on both sides that is really distracting. I'm not sure yet but I think Vicodin helps with it. The intense sensation comes and goes but...

Re: Bite is worse after surgery

Just wanted to add that my bite is far from perfect after surgery (last week) but it’s exactly as the surgeon planned. I had a large open bite gap in the front and they fixed that with the surgery so my front teeth touch. The problem now is my molars really don’t touch on one side and sorta touch on...

Re: June/ july 2018 surgery buddies

I had my double jaw surgery done on 7/20. Seems like they slid my lower jaw out quite a bit. Recovery was a little rough but things got a lot better after I puked up a bunch of blood in front of the all the nurses. I still have a lot of numbness (lower lip and chin only tingle if rubbed). Hopefully ...

Re: Did Insurance Help Pay for Your Surgery?

Geez that's a difficult situation. I know your parents cut you off to some degree but I'd really push for them to understand your situation and help out. This is a lot to take on and you could probably use all the support you can get. This is a big deal and it's not the same as making you pay for yo...

Re: Did Insurance Help Pay for Your Surgery?

[quote=Kzamor12 post_id=503316 time=1531508257 user_id=32171] So I literally just got a call from my doctors office and they said they won't work on the appeal. I have to do it by myself. :( I don't know what to do. I'm scared that they'll make me do a sleep study if I say I have sleep apnea. How in...

Re: Did Insurance Help Pay for Your Surgery?

[quote=Kzamor12 post_id=503310 time=1531500663 user_id=32171] Thats going to be my second option, to switch insurance but I honestly can't afford it. If I clam to have sleep apnea, do they require the actual sleep study to be done? What was your "functional impairment"? Because I don't hav...

Re: June/ july 2018 surgery buddies

[quote=Jfullflow10 post_id=503294 time=1531433035 user_id=31581] I go in a week from today for my double jaw surgery/genioplasty, correcting an under-bite and hopefully my sleep apnea. Have to have both jaws moved forward with the top jaw moving forward a bit more than the lower. I'm excited and ner...
