Re: Sad Hours :(

Your life isn’t over, regardless you’ll have to wait until your 18 for surgery. So possibly you could begin preliminary orthodontia work now. Keep in mind people will wear braces usually for a year. Re: Sad Hours :(

I could be wrong, but most jaw surgeons will tell you to wait until you are 20 so that they know your jaw and bone is fully formed in order to have permanent results without risking your jaw growing back into its old state. At 16 I believe you are still growing.

Re: Anyone else facing or completed DJS who also has chronic illness/pain?

I am a type one diabetic who did not have good control over my blood sugar levels before the surgery and was 20 pounds overweight. A month before going under the knife I finally upgraded my medical equipment, and started using a continuous glucose monitoring sensor which basically allows me to know ...

Re: Tooth sensitivity after surgery/numbness

Is it normal to feel the roots of your teeth just ache at night 3 weeks after jaw surgery? I can feel that my nerve connections are bouncing back fairly quickly, but with that the root pain at night and in late evening has gotten pretty bad

Re: How often post-op see surgeon?

Thanks for the replies, the reason I ask is because I had a X-ray done literally the next morning after the surgery, and then one week later (2 weeks) I just had my surgeon tell me to open my mouth and bite into the splint and telI me I could take my splint out by the 4th week. I was rushed because ...

Re: How often post-op see surgeon?

Specifically, how often was it expected that you would check in and get examined and have x rays done? My office seems to be holding back and weaseling out of every post op appt. they had initially promised.

What was the routine for each of you

Re: Surgery in January?

its funny you are going under the knife the same day i'm getting my splint taken out. as for difficulty level, i would say that if you compared it to wisdom teeth removal, the wisdom teeth removal is extreme pain, over a shorter period of time like a month. jaw surgery is a delayed release of that p...
