They’re off!

Well I have my braces off. Not the most pleasant of experiences but so glad it’s done. Relatively happy with the results, I’ll never have a Hollywood smile but they are a lot better! Got some final shaping to be done next week when my ortho is available and that’s me! Thank you everyone for all your...

Re: 9 months in. Almost done, or halfway...

I think I may have annoyed him... he’s emailed back telling me to cancel all my appointments and make a new one to discuss and make any adjustments. I feel bad because he had taken impressions for the bonded retainers and these may already be in production but I am paying £3.5k for this....

Re: 9 months in. Almost done, or halfway...

So now the plan is debonding on the Monday, back to pick up Essixs on the Friday, back for shaping on the next Monday and new Essix retainers will be made if needed after this. Seems a bit silly to me... However I emailed him today saying I’m really not sure because I think my right central incisor ...

I’ve dropped him an email asking if it would be preferable to delay it for a week. I’ll let you guys know what he says :) Thank you!

Re: 9 months in. Almost done, or halfway...

Well I was in for my routine appointment today and to my surprise I am scheduled for debonding in three weeks! :D My orthodontist isn’t going to be present as he is on holiday so I am getting debonded and fixed retainers attached, then a week later he is going to do some trimming on the edges and th...

Re: Gum contouring

Thank you for your reply. I discussed this with my orthodontist today and he said I would need referred to a periodontist. He isn’t sure there is one in my area but suggested giving it a while after my braces come off and if I would like to discuss it with a periodontist then he will refer me on. :D

Gum contouring

Hello. I am wondering if anyone in the UK has any experience of gum contouring? I am going to ask my ortho about it as I think a reduction of the gums above my lateral incisors would help improve the appearance of my smile. Is this something my ortho or Dentist could perform or does it need a specia...

Re: 9 months in. Almost done, or halfway...

Hello! My bite is getting there I think, wearing elastics nighttime only in a box shape and everything feels good. My bottom midline is slightly off but I don’t know if they are going to address this and I have an overbite and overjet which isn’t going to be sorted as I would have needed extractions...

9 months in. Almost done, or halfway...

 Hello! Just wanted to share my progress and ask how you all think my teeth are looking?? 😊 I was originally told my treatment would be 15-18 months but we are at 9 months now and I am optimistic it’ll be closer to 15 😊 My ortho got me to get a chip fixed so we could accurately see the alignm...

Re: First wire change

I have ceramic brackets and I’ve tried bright pink and metallic purple. Both changed colour over time but still looked the same colour, just a different shade, and I ate anything I wanted! I’m back on the clear for a wedding and holiday but it’ll probably be back to pink after this - life’s too shor...

Re: (Pictures) My teeth look like they’re going the wrong direction 20months in

I would also suggest giving them a call. I’ve just been in to see mine as I felt the detailing bends he put in at the last appointment were reversing some of the improvements I’d seen. We disagreed on which side was less in alignment but he acknowledged that what I see and what he sees may be differ...

Bends in wire and elastics!

Hello everyone! Hope you are all well! So yesteday I progressed on to the next step of my braces journey. The ortho put some bends in the wire and also gave me elastics to wear at night. I’m struggling to understand the way the bends will work tho and wondered if anyone could explain them? As you ca...
